Week 9-Creation of 1D Connectors Challenge

Import the CAD model.

Create the mesh for individual component as per given quality criteria.

Assign the property

Create the material and input the material and its properties considering steel is the material MAT1 is chosen.

Create the property and provide thickness and assign material to property.

Then assign property to each component.

1) 1D Connector

Seam - quad (angled-capped+L)

Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1

Go to - Connector - Seam weld select the nodes by path option provide tolerance 10 and space 5 as the element size is 5

Quad elements

Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1

Goto 2D Connector - seam-select node by path provide spacing and tolerance 5 and 10 select type - Quad, Imprint create.

Spot weld with 2 Layers and 5 mm Diameter

Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Right_Rail_1

For spot weld Goto 1D connector - spot -select the node by path select layer 3 type -weld -dia 5mm

and create the spot weld.

Hexa (Adhesive)

Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Left_Rail_1:

For Adhesive use 2D connector - Area select the nodes comp - type adhesive and create.

Bolt Connector

Rear_truss_2 & Right_Rail_2

Rear_truss_2 & Left_Rail_2

For Bolt - Goto 2D connector - Bolt - Type - Bolt general - select option create hole as the holes are not provided and create.

Spot-weld with Rigid Elements

Right_Rail_1 & Right_Rail_2

For spot weld Goto 1D connector Spot - select node by path, select comp - layer2 , type - rigid provide spot dia - 5 and create

Spot-weld with Spring Elements

Left_Rail_1 & Left_Rail_2:

For spot weld Goto 1D connector Spot - select node by path, select comp - layer2 , type - spring, provide spot dia - 5 and create

Reinf_Plate, Front_Truss_1&Front_Truss_2 : Spot weld with rigid elements.

Goto -spold weld connector - select node by path for spot weld select comp, layer 2 - type -rigid & dia 5 and create.

Seam weld is creted for this procedure is same as applied for previous components.

Conclusion : Mesh is done as per required quality criteria.

Various connetor joins have been created.
