Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
- Using ADVISOR tool, simulate the following
1) For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations
Input - cargo mass = 500kg
Load file - EV defaults
Drive cycle - FTP
Provide above input in the advisor tool.
Click continue to provide drive cycle input. One drive cycle travel 17.7km. To verify if the vehicle can travel 45km we have to consider at least 3 drive cycle.
After running this cycle result window will appear.
The result window shows velocity SOC (State of charge), Emission and Overall Ratio.
The above SOC figure shows that the state of charge reaches to 0% before completeing the drive cycle3. The distance travelled is 41.4 km. Warning message shows that required distance exceeds EV range.Therfore EV 1 Car cannot travel 45km with the cargo mass of 500kg.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
In the 2nd case we will increase the number of battery modules to 45 so we get higher voltage that is 555V.
Click continue to provide drive cycle input. One drive cycle travel 17.7km. To verify if the vehicle can travel 45km we have to consider at least 3 drive cycle.
Run the program to get the results.
The state of charge remains at 30% after completing 3 ftp cycle with the distance travel 53.3km
Therefore by increasing the battery module which ultimatley increases voltage can travel EV car 45km.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file. Compare your results in table and conclude.
To perform the gradebility open the Grade Option.
Change the speed here
Results Shows that gradeability is 8.9% at 55mph(88.5kmph)
2nd Results Shows that gradeability is 30.3% at 10mph(16.1kmph)
From the above results the gradeability has been tested for different speed keeping the duration value as constant.
The gradeability decreases with the increase in speed of the vehicle and increases with the decrease in speed. With the increase in duration with same velocity it is observed that the gradeability has been increased.
