Challenge

Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 4 Challenge

Aim: - To Define all the mechanical components into Electrically defined and prepare the bundle routing for the connectors and orient the bundle in the proper direction using the rotate command.

OBJECTIVE

Procedure

To create the Bundle connection we need to convert all the mechanical components to electrical define. for that create the mid-point and axis system for the connector entry point and bundle entry point in part Workbench.

Next, open the component into the ELECTRICAL PART DESIGN WORKBENCH and define the connector command and select the connector and enter the Number of terminals for the connector and then create the Bundle Entry and connector points for the connectors. The add the connector to the CATALOG.

Now open a New Product workbench and name as GEOMETRIC_BUNDELE_ASSEMBLY and open the connectors from the catalog and save place all the connectors as shown in the Layout by using MANIPULATION TOOLS ,SNAP,COMPASS commands

Now move to the ELECTRIC HARNESS DESIGN workbench and select the GEOMETRIC BUNDLE option and select the product file then the product file converts into the electrical file.

Then move to MULTI-BRANCHABLE OPTION and select the bundle entry points

Fig Rought Definition

And add the Branch point for the bundle by selecting ADD BRANCH POINT option and adding the distance.

And repeat the multi-branch able command for all connectors

Fig Bundle Routing

And add the protecting covering was the bundle connections by using the PROTECTIVE COVERING options and select the bundles and import the bundle cover depending on dimensions and save.
