c)
What is the mode of failure or damage of the beams in the
figure above? Are the damages repairable? Elaborate
ANSWER-
OBSERVATION -
This type of failure occur at bottom to top .
and this faiure looking deep , in there
structure .
--and RCC comes in contact of Air .
AND also increase chances of Corrosion .
conclusions -
-it is a form of flexural failure .
-this failure occur due to reversal
stress of earthquake .
-when earthquake comes , in here
upper part of beam is connected to
slab , so slab provide protection of
upper part of beam ,
-but lower part didnot overcome
these reversable stress effect so
this type failure are take place in
here .
-and Reinforcement seems not
yielded ,
-and permanant and nonrepairable
deformation comes in here .
B)
OBSERVATION -
-
-Shown in here big and deeper crack .
-in here seems to beam is seprated
to column and also deformed .
-and feel like reinforcement is helps
to hold that structure .
-
CONCLUSION -
-When seismic force act, than beam try
to pull themselves out of beam ,
due to less devlopment length ,
provided over in here , so structure fail.
-this failure occured due to very less
devlopment length of RCC bars
-less devlopment lenth and cracks
are wide , open so structural is non
repairable .
C]
OBSERVATION -
-CRacks observed whole beam width
and column
-and cracks observed at joint .
CONCLUSION-
-A high load is acted on beam and column.
--all components try to overcome forces .
-as cracks seems to minor and its a
repairable condition .
Question 2:
a) b)
c)
ANSWER
a)
OBSERVATION-
-In here columns seems to damaged
-and no failure comes in beam .
CONCLUSION -
-When Seismic forces is acted ,
than in here plastic hinge may
have been created over there
due to absence of walls .
-that is reason cracks are occured in
there .
-it's looks like not bad but it's
not repairable .
B]
OBSERVATION -
-Cracks are wide and deep
-all Reinforcement visible .
-and look to like shear failure
b)
CONCLUSION-
- basiclly ,when we provided improproper
RCC . calculation , this types
of shear failure comes in our
structures .
-no repairing are done in here .
C] OBSERVATION -
-Wooden piles supported on a slab .
columns seems to completely failed .
-two slabs seems to connected a column
and column is completely failed .
c)
CONCLUSION -
-When we start to design a structure
than proper calcultion according to
type of structure are nessesary ,
but in here design analysis ,
calulation mistake
play important role , so that's a reason
this type of failure will occur .
-i think another reason is that some
platic hinge position , not proper
detailing done , not provided proper
R/F according to demand .
-and surely not repairable.
