- Aim: Create the Core and cavity blocks for the switch bezel designed.
- Objectives:
- To capture class B and C surface properly.
- To form the tooling axis with 3 walls.
- To perform the draft analysis and make sure it passes the criteria.
- Method:
- First, it is necessary to capture the class B and C surfaces along with the tooling axis.
- Tooling axis is generated using the three walls of the armrest, where an assumption is needed in which the axis for the single wall is taken and an angle equal to the draft angle is given in order to capture the tooling axis.
- The main purpose of this challenge is to capture the core and cavity for the part.
Extracting the class A to a given length to capture the surface more properly. |
After trimming all the extra faces, class A, B & C will appear as shown above. |
To capture the outer wall of the cavity, it is required to extract the class B to a distance to make sure it matches with the external walls which will be created. |
After extracting the class B, a sketch is required to create which will act as an outer border for the walls of the cavity. Which is need to be extracted. |
Once the sketch is ready and extracted in both the direction, it needs to trim it with class B as per the need and keep the required surfaces. |
After trimming the extra surfaces the core will appear as shown above. |
The same process is needed to be applied for the cavity part. Extracting the base surface, forming a sketch and trimming them to keep the required surfaces. |
After trimming all the extra surfaces, the result obtained is as shown above. |
Once the surfaces are ready, solid is needed to be created in the part design. |
As per the requirement, a draft analysis is needed to be done. Here it can be seen that one wall of the armrest is not feasible, however, this is due to the assumption of the angle for the tooling axis. In order to overcome the problem, the draft angle needs to be increased from 3 to 4 degree. |
After increasing the draft angle, it can be seen that the 3rd wall is appearing to be feasible. |
