AIM : To create a switch bezel component using the class A surface there by generating the class B and C surfaces and doing the draft analysis with a proper tooling axis
CLASS A SURFACE:
Class A surface is an asthetic surface will a customer can see with a good surface finish
Distinguish the surfaces with different colours so that wev can able to odopt the right surface for the tooling direction . Once the surfaces are distinguished use the right approach to find the tooling direction
TOOLING AXIS:
In the switch bezel part the tooling axis is formed by two sketches between XY & YZ planes thereby intersecting the two lines we can generate the tooling axis required.
For the tooling axis we generally used bisecting method of the line with a point to get the tooling axis
B surface creation:
Now generate the B surface using the surfaces of the class A by extracting the surfaces( Rest surface , Walls, bottom face) and untrim them, there by extrapolate the untrim surfaces and final trim the surface with an offset of 2.5 mm with reference to the clss A surface
After final trim apply thev required fillets and the generated B surface be like
Class C surface creation:
After the generation of B surface now to jump to the class C surface creation here we need to multi extract the class A boundary and apply the smooth curve and thereby generating the sweep pattern with an angle of 3 degrees along the tooling axis.
Now cross check whether there is is a discontinuity in the boundary which will lead to flash formation by jumping through the parting line and the ejector pins
Now join Class A and class C surfaces
Now join it with Class B surface
Now use a closed surface feature to generate a solid body
Draft analysis :
Once the final surface is created use the draft analysis to check whether the surface needs the manufacturing draft requirements for the manufacturing
Conclusion:
THus the switch bezel component is generated in catia V5 using class A surface
