Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design

AIM : To create a COIN HOLDER component using the class A surface there by generating the class B and C surfaces and doing the draft analysis with a proper tooling axis

CLASS A SURFACE:

Class A surface is an asthetic surface will a customer can see with a good surface finish

TOOLING AXIS :

Tooling axis generally provides a direction in which components should eject in order to get easy removal of components from the tool.

If the component contains a hole or a shell or shallow part then that particular surface can be considered as a primary tooling axis

Draft analysis :

The draft analysis technique is used to analyze whether our part model created in CAD is manufacturable based on the draft condition applied. No parts can be ejected from the tool if it is having a straight 90-degree profile from its base surface. A small draft angle is provided to each and every area of the component in order to get easy removal of the component from the tool

Minimum draft angle in the engineering sector is 0.5mm and maximum upto 3mm so here we provide adraft angle of 2.5mm

Now when the surface clears the draft analysis then move onto the creation of B surface

B surface creation:

Gerneally B surface lies beneath the class A surface so, the B surface is a offset surface to the class a with an offset value of 2.5mm as provided in the question

so, the B surface is created by extracting the class A surfaces and untrim the surfaces , then extrapolate the surfaces then using the trim option to form a class B surface

Class C surface creation:

Once the class B is generated then move onto the class C surface there sweep option is used to generate the surface and there by trimming the surface with calss B and join it with Class A surface

Solid body:

So, after the joined operation used the joined surafce to create a closed surface

Conclusion:

Thus a coin holder solid surface body is created by using class A surface with proper tooling axis and draft analysis with generation of class B & C surfaces
