PROJECT 2
Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.
LIST OF DRAWINGS REQUIRED:
For a project to be constructed, a final building contract, detailed specifications, and a certain set of working drawings is required, and this set of drawings is referred to as blueprints also. These documents are vital for building construction processes.
The set of drawings in a working set is provided in a manner such that it corresponds to the building execution phases and procedure.
G+1 residential building according to Vaastu-Shastra:
Building facing North
Assume the following,
Column Size = 300 mm * 300 mm = 0.3 * 0.3 m
Heigh of column = 3 m
Beam Size = 0.3 * 0.45 m
Slab thickness = 125 mm = 0.125 m
Finding individual loads of members,
Dead load of column:
Column Size = 0.3 *0.3 m
Heigh of column = 3 m
Unit weight of concrete = 25 kN/m3
Volume of concrete = 0.3*0.3*3 = 0.27 m3
DL of column = no of columns * volume of concrete * unit weight of RCC * no of floors
= 13 * 0.27 * 25 * 2 = 175.5 kN
Dead load of beams:
Beam Size = 0.3 * 0.45 m
Volume of concrete = 0.3 * 0.45 ( 9.15+9.15+9.15+5.67+5.67+5.67+5.67)
= 0.3 * 0.45 * 50.13 = 6.77 m3
For 2 floors, volume of concrete = 6.77 * 2 = 13.54 m3
DL of beams = 13.54 * 25 = 338.38 kN
Dead load of slab:
Slab thickness = 0.125 m
Volume of concrete = 0.125 * ((2.44*3.05)+(3.05*3.05)+(5.49*3.05)+(5.67*3.05)) = 6.35 m3
For 2 floors, volume of concrete = 6.35 * 2 = 12.69 m3
DL of slabs = 12.69 * 25 = 317.39 kN
Dead load of wall:
Height of wall = 3 m
Thickness of wall = 0.23 m
Volume of brickwall = 3 * 0.23 * (2.05 +2.05+2.05+4.47+2.05+2.45+3.05+2.05+1.44+3.05)
=17.05 m3
DL of brickwall = 17.05 * 20 * 2 = 681.99 kN
Imposed load
According to IS 875 Part 2 , the LL of all rooms and kitchen of a residential building = 2 kN/m2
Wind load criteria is not applicable since building height is less than 10 m
