- To assign pay items to objects
- To do a project estimate and create summary sheets
Procedure:
- Review the project scope file

- Create an aerial file using the template file
- Create a new file using Company-XYZ.dwt reference template

- Name the file using the naming convention outlined in the File Naming Convention folder.
- Go to File -> Save As ‘ Aerial’ in .dwg file type

- . Make sure the coordinate system is set to FL83-NF
- Go to Settings-> Right click on dwg -> Edit Drawing system
- Enter appropriate unit system as FL83-NF

- Set the imagery up and use the MAPIINSERT command to insert the aerial images
- Use command MAPIINSERT and browse for the folder that contains aerial images of .sid file
- If your image is not visible, use zoom extents command

- Use tframes to turn off the frames
- Create an alignment file using the naming convention outlined in the File Naming Convention folder.
- Create a file using Company-XYZ.dwt template format
Save As ‘ALGNRD’ in .dwg file type

- Reference in the aerial file
- Use XR space bar to open the External reference panel
- Right click and select Attach DWG
- Select the AERIAL.dwg file and click OK
- Use zoom extents to view the aerial image

- Create an alignment called ROAD-PROJ1.
- Alignment Layout tools pops up. Choose Fixed line – Two points

- Now join the lines by curves using free curve fillet (between two entities, radius)

- Go to Alignment Grid view to open the Panoroma window
- Select the curve and modify the radius so that it correctly aligns with the aerial image

- Select the alignment and notice that the ribbon changes and has only context sensitive tools
- Go to the Project scope and see that the road is a 24’ proposed width road. So it is 12’ on both sides from the centreline of the road
- Click on offset alignment and enter the incremental offset on the left and right as 12’. Also change the alignment style if required

- Create a data shortcut for the alignment
- Right click Data Shortcuts and click on Set working folder. Select folder C4
- Right click Data Shortcuts and click on New Data Shortcuts folder. Name the folder as DS1
- Now data shortcuts folder is set in C4
- Right click Data Shortcuts and click on Associate Project to current drawing

- Right click Data Shortcuts and click on Create Data Shortcuts

- Create Proposed 2D geometry file and draw the geometry for the project as shown in the assignment video.
- Create a new file with Company-XYZ.dwt template with the file name as ‘DSGNRD.dwg’

- Xref the Aerial. dwg file

- Right click on the alignment ROAD 150 under Data Shortcuts and select create reference

- Draw a PL at the start of the road and take offsets from the centreline to 10’ left and right. Take one more offset of 2’ on either sides

- Add turnouts by creating a block and inserting it wherever needed
- Use break and fillet commands for the large turnouts (Take offsets of 40’ either side(rideaways), draw two polylines on the edge of the paths joining, break the widening edge line, use fillet of appropriate radius to connect)

- Take offsets of 0.4167’ on either side of the centreline for stripings (5” /12), then a offset of 12’ on either side, again 0.4167’ for edge stripings

- Select the stripes line and change it to a appropriate layer

- Create a new template file from the COMPANY-XYZ.dwtfile located in the. Name the file Plan Sheets.dwg

- Create a ROAD-PROJ1 .DST file that you will use for all projects. Add 2 Subsets called Roadway Plansand Signing and Pavement Marking Plans.
- Press Ctrl +4 on the keyboard to open up the Sheets set manager window
- In the dropdown select New Sheet Set

- Click on An Example Sheet Set and click Next. Choose the example data sheet set as Proj 1

- Enter the name of the sheet set as ‘ROAD-PROJ1’
- Right click and select Properties so that Sheet set properties get opened. Enter the details as shown

- Create a layout called Dual Plan 50 Scale and create a named page setup that uses 11x17 (imperial), plots to .PDF, and uses the Class_B-W.stb plot style table. Make sure you associate the named page setup to the layout.
- Create a page layout called Dual Plan 50 Scale and right click to select Page Setup Manager

- Associate the new page set up with the new layout by double clicking

- Insert the titleblock.dwg drawing
- Type Insert command and browse for the title block drawing

- Use Move command to bring it to place
- Draw a centreline to create a dual viewport
- Turn on the viewport layer and draw rectangles
- Click on the viewport and click Yes to lock the display. Change the scale to 1:50, enter the viewport type as Plan and order as 1 / 2 accordingly

- Right click the new layout and select Import Layout as Sheets to add it to the Sheet set

- Use command Multiline text on the greyed regions , right click to select Insert Field

- Create a clipping file CLIPRD01 that contains dual plan view frames at 1”=50’ and uses the titleblock you created as a template.
- Create a new file with template Company-XYZ.dwt and save it as dwg
- Set the working folder as Proj1 -> DS1 that contains the alignment Road 150 as the shortcut

- Right click View Frames and select Create View Frames
- Save Plan Sheets.dwg to Plan Sheets . dwt

- Click on Create View Frames

- Create Data Shortcuts of the View Frames

- Create a new file using Company-XYZ template and save as ‘PLANRD01.dwg’
- Reference in ROAD-PROJ1 alignment and ROAD-PROJ viewframe in the drawing
15. Create plan sheets in the PLANRD01 file, and add the layouts to the ROAD-PROJ1.dst file

- Open KEYSRDO1.dwg file
- Right click on the KEY SHEET layout and select Import Layout as Sheet

- Save it as ROAD-PROJ1.pdf
