Calculate the wheel arch gap at required points and check whether the car passes the european standard
FENDER WHEEL ARCH
Wheel arch is semi circular in shape which is placed above all the wheels .Its design is in such a way that to avoid the sand, mud, small rock stones and other road particles from being thrown into the air to hit engine compartment and the pedestrain.There might be some terms and conditions and it may varry depending upon the region,it include the clearance and some area ot the wheel arch would behind thee wheel and vice versa
VARIOUS STANDARDS FOR WHEEL ARCH DESIGN
2.US regulations:
3.European standards:
STEPS FOR CREATING SKETCH SIMILAR TO EUROPEAN STANDARDS :
2.On the plane using sketch option,draw a horizontal line.On left side to the horizontal line draw another inclined line at an angle of 30 degree ,similar at right hand side draw an
inclined line at an angle of 50 degree.
3.project the bottom wheel arch edge on that plane then offset the horizontal line to 150mm.make a point at the intersection then draw an inclined line which passes through the intersection point to the wheel centre.draw a bisecting line between rhese two points using derived lines.then make the intersection points on the curve at all the lines.
4.using project curve option,project the wheel arch curve and those five points to that dody faces.then finally measure the distance between two points between the
plane and the wheel arch face.the measurement are made according to the european standards.
similarly ,measure all the distance at intersection point
for "L" values
SB-SB = +10.000 mm
SA-SA = + 9.9490mm
SC-SC = +1.6293 mm
SD-SD = -2.8875 mm
SE-SE = - 5.9973 mm
for "a" values
SB = 43.6263mm
SC = 38.3597mm
And the results are tabulated which is given below
SECTION | L(>10MM) | RESULT | a(>5MM) | RESULT |
SA-SA | + 9.9490 | FAIL | ||
SB-SB | +10.000 | PASS | 43.6263 | PASS |
SC-SC | +1.6293 | FAIL | 38.3597 | PASS |
SD-SD | -2.8875 | FAIL | ||
SE-SE | - 5.9973 | FAIL |
Conclusion :
From the above results we can conclude that the Fender does not pass the European Regulations as the minimum clearance between the fender arch wheel to the outer most wheel is 10 mm and this design does not meet the this minimum clearance so this fender design is fail for the European Regulation standard.
