 UNDERBODY COATING

• It is the process of coating specified area of underbody of a car to prevent corrosion and increase underbody lifetime.
• It will protect our car over a year.The Underbody coating is done by spraying or painted.
• It is done when the car is brand new or the underbody is completely free from rust.
• The underbody coating thickness is measured using elcometer and in microns
• Recommended WFT between 115-445 microns (µm).
• Recommended DFT 100-400 microns (µm).

• Asphalt based based undercoating
• Wax or paraffin based undercoating

 TYPES OF COATING PROCESS 

   Pretreatment

• It is the process of cleaning the body surface to remove the remaining oil from stamping process and welding residue through the three liquid dip process.
• It helps the primer to better bonding onto the metal
• Degreasing solution is composed of alkaline salt and surfactants ,caustic soda,sodium carbonate.
• It is the process of degreasing,conditioning,phospating. 

 Electrodeposition

    E-coat refers to a unique coating system in which an entire auto body is immersed in a large E-coat bath. A coating film that ensures rust prevention performance is formed both on the outer surface and the complicated internal structures of the auto body. An automotive coating film, which is 0.1 mm thick, consists of many layers. It has various functions, such as design performance for beautiful appearance, weather resistance performance, anti-chipping performance, and rust prevention performance. E-coat forms an undercoating film, whose thickness is only one-fifth of that of a human hair, to protect automobiles from rust.

 Rust proof materials:sealers/PVC

       During this third step, it is also typical to apply a soft tip primer coat that improves the chipping resistance .
