Assignment 1-2D Meshing Challenge

Objective : Carry out the geometry cleanup operation on the given 3 files.

• Practice
• Clip Repair
• Mounting Bracket

There should not be any free edges, convert all of them into refine geometry.

• Clean the geometry.
• Extract midsurface.
• Clean midsurface geometry.
• Ignore holes less than dia 5mm.
• Create 2D mesh with target length 5mm, min 3.5mm max 7mm.
• And assign proper thickness, by creating a generic property.

• Then Save in .hm format

Procedure :-

1) First we have to import model in hypermesh using import option.

2) After importing models in hypermesh, there is few geometrical errors in it. we have to reslove it and clean the geometry.

There is no geometrical error getting in Part-2 and Part-3.

3) To resolving this geometrical error we have to use 'quick edit' tool in'geom' panel. Using option given in'quick edit' tool like toggele edge, delete surface etc. we need to clean up geometry.

4) After clean up geometry we should go for extraction of midsurface. For that use 'Auto midsurface' tool in 'geom' panel. set appropriate extract option, select all surfaces present in model and hit 'extract'.

5) After extraction of midsurface need to be defeatures some fillets and supress some lines due to which will create bad flow of mesh. for that use 'defeature' tool in 'geom' panel. And for supressing lines use 'toggle' option in 'quick edit panel'.

6) After that need to be apply quality criteria and then we have to go for meshing. for meshing use 'automesh' tool in '2D' panel, put target element size '5mm', select surface and hit 'mesh'.

7) Now we have to go for assignment of thickness to component. for that we need to create separate 'property' collector and put thickness (T) in it. after that right click on component and assign property to component.
