Benchmarking in the automobile industry involves a structured comparison between the similar products services or processes on dimensions of perfomance.process benchmarking of this kind can operate at different levels like;

• Between similar processes in the same factory or service branch
• Between different factories or service branches
• Between different competing organization
• Between different sectors using the same process

Before we are going to buy a car we want to consider many facts. In current scenario in our market there are large number of automotive manufactures they are producing vehicles for different segments . From that we want to select the car that suites for our purpose and requirements. There are some steps we want to follow for the selection of the vehicle which will make our selection correct and ease.

• TYPE ; The type is an important factor , in our current market vehicles are available in petrol variant, diesel variant and now some manufacturers are started to introduce electric vehicles to the market.If the usage of the vehicle is heavy and it want to travel long distance daily then i prefer diesel varirant over petrol and ev , for daily normal uses i prefer petrol variant and EV , if the budget is low then we can go for petrol variant because electric vehicles have larger prices compare to petrol variant .
• PRICING ; We want to select a price range we can afford , in our market cars are available from 4 lakhs on road price . After deciding the price we can  look the vehicles that comes under our price range .if the budget is low then we can go for petrol variant because electric vehicles and diesel cars  have larger prices compare to petrol variant
• MILEAGE ; Mileage is an another important factor , if we are looking for more mileage then i prefer diesel car over petrol , Electric vehicles also has good range of mileage.
• DRIVING EXPERIENCE ; Diesel engines have more power and torque compared to petrol and electric. But the disadvantage of diesel is that it has high noise and vibration than petrol engines and ev, petols are also have good power figures nowadays , vehicles with turbo charged engines are available in the market they are producing similar figures of power . Also another fact is that many manufactures are start stoping the production of diesel vehicles for example volkswagen and skoda ,  both them are stoped producing diesel cars in indian market because , diesel engines are producing more pollution to our enviornment. Electric cars are the future , they are also give good driving experience .
• MAINTENANCE COST ; The maintenance is also an important factor , after buying the car we want to give proper maintenance for the car at proper time for the long life of the vehicle, so we want to consider the maintenance cost , diesel variant has more maintenance cost compare to the petrol variant and electric. The  cost of the battery of the electric vehicles are also high but they come with large period of warranty , 

In the case of pughazheydhii , his requirement and purpose are the price ranges should between 8-10 lakhs, there are 5 persons in his family so we want to select a 5 seater, also he want car for his daily use and to travel an additional 500 km to visit his family, also he likes some big cars. As per the requirement of the pughazheydhi i will suggest the following cars.

The magnite is nissan's entry to the gold mine segment of compact SUVs.It is a newly introduced vehicle to the indian market , it comes in petrol variant with 999cc engine with 72hp at 6250 rpm and torque of 96Nm at 3500 rpm. The company offers a fuel range of 18.75 kpl with 40 litre tank capacity, dual front airbag and abs as standard features across the variant, the vehicle comes with a 2500 wheel base and 205 mm ground clearence, also the vehicle comes with both manual and automatic variant. some varian of nissan magnite comes with turbo charged engine also.The price range starts from 5.67 lakh ex showroom.

TATA PUNCH

Tata punch is a 5 seater compact suv , which is also the newly introduced vehicle in this segment to the indian market. the key specifications of tata punch are the vehicle comes with 1199cc engine with petrol variant and max power is 84.48bhp at 6000 rpm and have a max torque of 113Nm at 3300 rpm the transmission type is manual and have a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres and company offers a mileage of 19km/l , it comes with a 5 speed manual gear box. The price range starts from 5.93 lakh ex showroom price.

TATA NEXON

Tata nexon is one of the best car under tata motors it is also one of the top cars that are selling in the indian market, tata nexon also cleared the global crash test with a 5 star rating. The key specification of tata nexons are it comes with both diesel and petrol variant and also comes with both manual and automatic transmission , the vehicle comes with 1497cc engine offering max power of 108.49bhp at 4000 rpm and with a max torque of 260Nm at 1500-2750 rpm, fuel tank capacity is 44 litre offering a mileage of 18km/l in city and average milage of 22km/l , ground clearence of 209

MARUTI BREZZA

Maruti brezza is also a 5 seat compact suv ,which comes with both petrol and diesel engines, the vehicle comes with a 1462cc engine with max power fig of 103.26bhp at 6000rpm and a max torque of 138nm at 4000rpm  compare to the other vehicles mentioned above brezza comes with a 4 cylinder engine , the fuel tank capacity is 48 litre and company offer a mileage of 20 km/l  the vehicle has a length of 3995 mm , width of 1790mm and a wheelbase of 2500 mm. The price range starts from 8 lakh.

• interior quality is not good for this price range

CONCLUSION

After cosidering all the requirements of Mr. pughazhyendhi i will recoment to go for TATA NEXON nexon is a great family car with attractive features and provide high safety for the customers and also since in this case for travelling a long distance like 500km in a single stretch tata nexon gives good comfort for the driver and all the passanger.

And second option i recommend is the maruti brezza which is also a good car with 4 star safety features in global crash test and also provide good driving comfort.
