Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design

COIN HOLDER

AIM ; DESIGN A COIN HOLDER FROM GIVEN CLASS A SURFACE.

OBJECTIVE

To create a coin holder and perform draft analysis on both CLASS A and final solid body.

TOOLING AXIS CREATION

  • In this project the tooling axis is created by normal to surface
  • First the base surface is extracted from the CLASS A surface .
  • After that a point is created in the centre of the surface . Then a line is created from that point using point to direction tool , and that line is taken as the tooling axis , as shown in fig.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

  • At first the draft analysis is done on the CLASS A surface as shown in the fig below, from that we got a confirmation that all the surface has a draft angle of more than 3 deg, that can simply identified through the colour scale shown .
  • Then the final draft analysis is done after the creation of the solid body by thickening the surface, the steps involved in checking the draft analysis are first the view of the surface change to material mode after that the compass is placed along with the tooling axis and after clicking on the surface of the solid body the draft analysis tool shows the draft angle of the body through various colour range , from mthat we can get an idea whetherv it is manufacturable or not. By looking the draft angle for this particular solid , the draft angle is greater than 3 deg for every surface as shown in fig below.
