Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design
SWITCH BEZEL DESIGN
AIM DESIGN A SWITCH BEZEL AND ITS DRAFT ANALYSIS
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the project is to design a switch bezel and performs draft analysis on it.
CREATION OF TOOLING DIRECTION
- The tooling axis is created by bisecting method . The first step is the extraction of the base surface and insert a point on the extracted surface and created an axis system on that point.
- After that created a intersection in the yz planes and drawn two lines using the sketch tool in two sides of the intersection, and created a bisecting line using these lines.
- Similarly two inclined lines drawn in the xz plane . But here there is only side and on the other side ther is no intersction, so a line is drawn from the point created in the extracted base surface and give an angle of 5 deg, after that using these lines created a bisecting line.
- By using these two bisecting lines created in xz and yz plane , a tooling axis is created using bisecting line and published the tooling axis.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
- Both the CLASS -A surface and final solid body is analysed using draft analysis tool before starting the design the Class A surface is analysed and check whether it is feasible or not. If it satisfies the design rule then the design procedure starts using the Class A surface.
- Solid body is analysed after completion, throught this analysis we can get an idea about the solid whether it is properly manufacturable or not.
- The steps involved in draft analysis are, first the solid part view mode is change to material mode and the draft analysis start.
- After that the compass is placed along with the tooling axis and after selecting the body , the draft anlaysis shows whether the body has the required min draft angle of 3 deg, through various colours , for example if it shows green then the draft angle at that portion will be greater than 3 deg , . if it is not satisfied then it will reworked.
