Aim - To simulate the motion of the air moving from a centrifugal turbomachine. In this approach the moving mesh approach in transient simulation is used.
1) Then we go to open the general tab and set the transient 2d planar simulation.
2) The turbulencxe model is selected as the k-epsilon realizable model.
3) Then go to the cell zone condition tab we select the body motion as the mesh motion and give the rpm of the mesh motion as the 300 rpm.
4) All the boundary condition as set the same. The dynamic mesh is set off only.
5) iN THE SOLUTION METHODS WE select the scheme as coupled and the flow courant number is set as 10.
6)The residual is made into transient simulation ny checking the mass flow rate report definition with respect to the time .
7) The fixed time step is used for the iteraion it is selected by using the time step size as the deltat = (60/N). Here N is the rpm of the blade.
so delta t = 0.2e-3 seconds and the number of iterations given are 1000 . The maximum number of iteration per time step is set as 100 iterations.
The results and contour plots obtained are-
#) The simulation becomes stable after a certain time and the outlet mass flow rate becomes almost 0.

Week 9- Unsteady moving zones Approach
Aim - To simulate the motion of the air moving from a centrifugal turbomachine. In this approach the moving mesh approach in transient simulation is used. 1) Then we go to open the general tab and set the transient 2d planar simulation. 2) The turbulencxe model is selected as the k-epsilon realizable model. 3) Then…

Week 8- Moving zones approach in Fluent
#) Approaches for moving zones- 1) Circular kind of interface is used and the NS equation is solved separately as well. Data is transferred from one frame to the other through the interface . The approaches are- 1) Area average- The physical quantity is found out by averaging over the whole area of the domain. 2) Mass…

Week 2 - Converging diverging nozzle
Aim - To simulate the flow inside the CD or convergent divergent nozzle using the inlet and outlet pressure condition given. Theory - The CD nozzle is a device that is used to accelerate the high pressure flows coming from the combustion chamber or reservoir to high velocity or supersonic flow if there is a favourable…

Week 7 - Minor Project
#) Objective - To set up the simulation over the NACA 0012 airfoil . That is a symmetrical airfoil. To find out the drag coefficient vs the angle of attack . The lift coefficient vs the angle of attack . Compare the effect of turbulence odels on the above results . The inlet Reynolds number is of 2 * 10^5 …
