Week 4 Challenge : CFD Meshing for BMW car
Aim of the project - Clean up the given geometry of the BMW car so that no single cons are present and the only necessary triple cons should be there and there should be only double cons.
#) Procedure-
Clean up the geometry till there is no topological error.
Assigning relevant PIDs.
Surface meshing.
Perform symmetry.
Creation of wind tunnel.
For the mesh, we have to give the following length of element size as follows -
- Target lengths for the different parts of a model are as follow:
- Body - 3 mm
- Lights - 4 mm
- Grills - 1 mm
- Rims and Tyres - 2 mm
- Optical Rear view mirror - 2 mm
- Window - 2 mm
- Silencer - 3 mm
- Logo - 1 mm
#) When the geometry is imported ino the ANSA the format of the folder is of the IGS format in the ANSA-

The logo of the BMW was modified using the fine option -

#) The half part of the body is taken into consideration and the symmetrical other part is deleted-

Then we need to enable the shadow mode and need to keep the model in the PID mode.
Enable all the cons and crosshatches to perform the geometry clean up and also go o the mesh parameters put the values of the length and the macros as 1 mm this produces the smooth curves.
#) Geometry clean up of the grills is done by the following procedure-
To perform the geometry clean up of the grills we have to first isolate that surface and lock it up by the NOT option and then lock up the geometry.
we have to delete the unnecessary surfaces on the grill.
Go to faces new coons fitted to faces and cut and enable the parametric cut and then cut the fins that are present on the grill.
perform to all fins and remove the unwanted surface.
Go to faces - new - coons to join the deleted surface by using these option and this way the geometry clean up is done.
We have to perform similar operations on the intake grill.
Perform similar option on the intake grills.

#) Now we go for the cleanup of the tyres and the rim section we get the following-

#) Next the bottom surfaces are cleared and the triple con is removed and the single cons are also removed-

#) Next the mirror is to be cleaned by deletin g the exting surfac e and creating the new surfaces-

#) Next we go for the surface meshing of the half car-
The following element size of the different components-
- Body - 3 mm
- Lights - 4 mm
- Grills - 1 mm
- Rims and Tyres - 2 mm
- Optical Rear view mirror - 2 mm
- Window - 2 mm
- Silencer - 3 mm
- Logo - 1 mm
The meshing of the logo-

#) Next the windows are meshed with the lengths-

#) Meshing of the tyres is considered-

#) the meshing of the mirror-

#) The silencer meshing is of -

The grills are meshed-

#) The body is meshed now-

Now we need to use the symmetry option and bring back the other half of the car to create a whole set of the car-

Now we have to move by using the copy entities by giving the dx , dy and the dz

#) Now the car obtained by symmetry is -

#) Now we have to create the wind tunnel that encloses the car model-
By using the relative point model by using the -

The new PIDS are being created this is shown as follows=

#) The meshing of the wind tunnel is to be made like this as follows-
