MESHING OF HOOD OF A CAR USING ANSA
AIM:
To create a mesh for the given hood of a car according to the given quality criteria using ANSA
PROCEDURE:
STEP 1:
Geometry Cleanup.
STEP 2:
Midsurface Extraction.
STEP 3:
Assingining new PID.
STEP:
Meshing.
GIVEN QUALITY CRITERIA :

The car hood has 4 parts
1. Hinge reinforcement.
2. Latch reinforcement.
3. Lower hood.
4. Upper hood.
STEP 1 :
Geometry Cleanup
In this we need to geometry cleanup for given model. the error's are checked and fixed as shown in figure
Geometry cleanup as shown in figure :
STEP 2:
Midsurface Extarction
The midsurface of all 4 Part's are extarcted separately.
Select offset midsurface option from the face's module is used to extarct mid surface of each part.
The face's to be extract by the thickness pf ecah part i.e Actual thickness divided by 2 then the midsurface will form.
MIDSURFACE OF LOWER HOOD
MIDSURAFCE OF OUTER HOOD
MIDSURFACE OF HINGE REINFORCEMENT
MIDSURFACE OF LATCH REINFORCEMENT
STEP 3 :
Assinging new PID
Goto face's set PID option select the component to assing PID create new PID.
The thickness of each part are entered and their type is chosen as PSHELL.
STEP 4:
Meshing
Before going to mesh give mesh parameter's and quality criteria
Now go with best mesh option create a mesh and element type is chosen as mixed
Reduced tria's and eliminate rotating quad's
Each part is separately meshed by given quality criteria as shown below
LATCH REINFORCEMENT
HINGE REINFORCEMENT
UPPER HOOD
LOWER HOOD
RESULT :
All part's are successfully meshed as per the given quality criteria .

CONCLUSION :
The mesh is created for the given model as per the given quality criteria using ANSA.
