Aim:- To route the Wiring harness
on Given car body and Prepare flatten view drawing in CATIA V5.
Modeling:-
First step to start with, is the downloading of CAD data for back door as well as for the connectors, clips and clamps. This is done using the link provided and from www.te.com. Since no data is given about the use of specific connectors, mainly 3 types of connectors are used in the routing. For interconnection, c-776438-4 connector with c-1924487-2 clip assembly is used which is mounted on to the L clip. For other connections, C-DT-06-08SA and C-DT-06-2SA is used which can be further used for connecting with back wiper motor, brake lights, indicators etc. A total of 6 connectors are used. These are electrically defined and stored in catalogue. Now, Assembly Wiring Harness Context product file is created, in that back door file and geometrical bundle file is created/ added. The connectors are placed in desired locations as shown below:
Before routing, clips and clamps are to be
placed for smooth wiring harness routing through the backdoor, ensuring all
clearances and other design considerations. Enough number of clamps are
selected and placed as shown in figures below:
After this, routing can be done.
Wiring harness routing on backdoor is done as shown in the image given below. As mentioned earlier, adequate number of clips were supplied for smooth routing. Also design considerations such as clearance management, bundle length etc. were closely monitored.
Protective covering for the harness has
applied as shown below:
Bundle continuity check was carried out and favorable results were obtained:
Now, flattening can be done.
The Wiring Harness flattening is done as shown below:
This is converted into a drawing file.
Connector face at bottom is used as active plane for flattening as well as
front plane for drawing.
Critical checks like clearance of the bundle,
fouling of bundle with edges, bundle continuity, minimum bundle length,.... etc
are checked and is found OK. Application of all Packaging rules, Industry
best practices studied have been used in design.
