OBJECTIVE:
Creating mounts for the front fender with gives styling surface and master sections.
INTRODUCTION:
Fender is the American English term for the part of an automobile, motorcycle, or other vehicle body that frames a wheel well (the fender underside). Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other roads spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire. Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface. The material used in the fender is Steel or aluminum
Various materials are used to make cars. The main materials used for making cars, parts, and components, along with future trends, are steel, aluminum, magnesium, copper, plastics, and carbon fibers. The prime reason for using steel in the body structure is its inherent capability to absorb impact energy in a crash situation. The use of aluminum can potentially reduce the weight of the vehicle body. Recent developments have shown that up to 50% weight saving for the body in white can be achieved by the substitution of steel by aluminum.
TYPES OF BUMPER:
1. FULL BUMPER TYPE:
The full bumper type fender was used in old cars, it covers the full area until the front lighting. But it has a lot of sheet metal material which is unnecessary and increases the weight of the fender. This type of fenders are no longer used in automobiles.
2. HALF BUMPER TYPE:
Mainly half bumper type is used in automobiles. It is basically related to scrap management. Half bumper type leads to less wastage of the blank.
We are changed from full bumper type to half bumper type to reduce the scrap rate per blank. In the full bumper, we can only produce one Fender per blank, whereas as a half bumper type we can produce 2 fenders per blank.
There are generally 5 mountings on a Front fender-
1. Body
2. A-Pillar
3. Sill
4. Cowl
5. Drip
DRIP MOUNTING:
SILL MOUNTING:
Sill mounting is the bottom side mounting of the fender, where the mounting is done at the sill of the car.
A-PILLAR MOUNTING:
The mounting takes place between the fender and a pillar.
BUMPER MOUNTING:
At the bumper mounting, the bumper will be mounted to the fender and the A-Pillar.
BAFFLE MOUNTINGS:
The wheel arch will be mounted to the baffle mountings wish push pin mechanism.
