AIM:
OBJECTIVE
1. Check the material properties of the rail component and calculate the speed of sound in steel rail=_______
2. The length of the rail is about 1000 mm.calculate the time takes for a shock wave to travel from one end of the rail to the other.
3.Time for sound to travel length of rail=______
4.Edit the engine file so that the stress wave can be monitored, moving from one end of the rail to the other during impact -this will require a termination time equal to the time it takes for the sound to travel the length of the rail(set on/RUN card)
5.Set the frequency of animation output to a time that will give 20 animation steps(/ANIM/DT)
6.Change /print -10.
7.3d meshing tetra mesh and hex mesh
Procedure:
Import rad file in HYPERMESH.
open hypermesh select import
1.checking the material properties &calculating speed of the sound in mateial
goto Model<materials<steel
√2100000.0078=5188.745 m/s.
shock wave travels with speed of the sound .shock wave speed=sound speed
=5188.745m/s
2.calculate time taken for shockwave to travel one end to other end.
Time= distance /speed
= 1000/5188.745
= 0.192725 ms
3. Calculate time for sound to travel in length of the rail = 0.192725 ms
4.Edit the engine file so that the stress wave can be monitored, moving from one end of the rail to the other during impact -this will require a termination time equal to the time it takes for the sound to travel the length of the rail(set on/RUN card)
5.Set the frequency of animation output to a time that will give 20 animation steps(/ANIM/DT)
frequency= Time taken/no of animation steps
= 0.192725/20
=0.00963625.
6.Change /print -10.
print value is changed by selecting model check<cards<ENG_PRINT

Week 4 -Wire Bending Challenge
Objective: For this challenge, we will have to perform an analysis to simulate the bending of a wire in ANSYS. we will have to use Copper Alloy (Non Linear), Aluminium Alloy (Non Linear) and Magnesium Alloy ( Non Linear) for the wire alone. You need to find out the Equivalent stress and Equivalent strain on the wire alone.…
