Objective:
For this challenge, perform the analysis to simulate a sphere pressing on a plate.
Use Structural steel for both sphere and plate but the material of the plate must be Non Linear.
Press the sphere onto plate 4mm downwards and retract it.
Procedure:
Results:
directional deformation:
Equivalent stress in plate:
Equivalent elastic strain:
Equivalent elastic strain in sphere:
Directional deformation in plate:
Result table:
s.no | ||
1 | directional deformation | 0.32934mm |
2 | Equivalent stress in plate | 3313.8MPa |
3 | Equivalent elastic strain | 0.016575 |
4 | Equivalent elastic strain in sphere | 1.2139e^-5 |
CONCLUSSION:
In this project sphere made by structural steel pressed in to a plate made by structural steel non linear material.sphere pressed in to plate up to plastic limit where it will not regain its original shape.

Week 4 -Wire Bending Challenge
Objective: For this challenge, we will have to perform an analysis to simulate the bending of a wire in ANSYS. we will have to use Copper Alloy (Non Linear), Aluminium Alloy (Non Linear) and Magnesium Alloy ( Non Linear) for the wire alone. You need to find out the Equivalent stress and Equivalent strain on the wire alone.…
