OBJECTIVE
The aim of the project is to clean up the geometry for the given files & mesh the compound by creating a mid surface and assign proper thickness & generic property.
Case Setup
Model - 1
a) Geometry
The 2D topo mode is used to visualize the single, double & triple cons. Each type is represented by a different color,
Single con - It denotes that edge is not shared by any edges & represented by red color, Double cons - It denoted that edge is shared by other edge & represented by green color, Triple cons - It denoted the edge is shared by two edges & represented by yellow color.
The delete --> lines --> displayed --> delete entity - This option is used to delete the extra lines which are not connected to the component.
The Single cons & triple cons are error as the edge needs to be shared by a single edge to create a closed geometry.
Geometry --> quick edit --> Toggle - This option is used to join the single cons together double join.
Geometry --> quick edit --> Filler surf - This option is used to create a surface.
Geometry --> Surface edit --> trim with surf/plane - This option is used to trim the extra surface from the actual geometry & delete surface is used to delete the extra surface.
b) Cleaned up Geometry
Geometry --> Mid surf --> Auto --> choose the surface - This option create a mid surface.
c) Mid surface extract
The hole size less than 5mm is not consider for the meshing & are filled using the filler option.
The auto mesh option is used to mesh the shell element. The mesh style & smooth tool are used to keep the flow of the mesh proper & element shape.
d) Mesh
2D --> Quality index --> cleanup tools --> element optimization is used to eliminate the quality criteria failures. The minimize size criteria is cannot be achieved since the fillet has a size less than 2mm so we need smaller elements to capture them.
e) Quality Criteria
The quality criteria range of the elements
Model -2
a) Geometry
Geometry --> quick edit --> add/remove point --> right click to remove the extra points.
Geometry --> Mid surf --> Auto --> choose the surface - This option create a mid surface.
b) Mid surface extract
The hole size less than 5mm is not consider for the meshing & are filled using the filler option.
The auto mesh option is used to mesh the shell element. The mesh style & smooth tool are used to keep the flow of the mesh proper & element shape.
c) Mesh
2D --> Quality index --> cleanup tools --> element optimization is used to eliminate the quality criteria failures. The minimize size criteria is cannot be achieved since the fillet has a size less than 2mm so we need smaller elements to capture them.
d) Quality Criteria
Model - 3
a) Geometry
Geometry --> quick edit --> add/remove point --> right click to remove the extra points.
Geometry --> Mid surf --> Auto --> choose the surface - This option create a mid surface.
c) Mesh
The hole size less than 5mm is not consider for the meshing & are filled using the filler option.
The auto mesh option is used to mesh the shell element. The mesh style & smooth tool are used to keep the flow of the mesh proper & element shape.
d) Quality Criteria
2D --> Quality index --> cleanup tools --> element optimization is used to eliminate the quality criteria failures. The minimize size criteria is cannot be achieved since the curves are very close to each other & in order to capture them min size quality criteria is not considered.

Week 12 - Final Project - Modelling and Analysis of a Datacenter
AIM The objective of the project is to create a data center model using macros in the Icepak. The main parts of the data center are Computer room air conditioning (CRAC), server cabinets, power distribution units and perforated tiles. Analyze the flow distribution and behaviour of temperature in the server stacks. Problem…
