Objective:- Objective of this challenge is to Creation of RIB of Coin Holder and add thickness to it using CATIA Software.
Tooling Axis:- The direction in which mold opens or Core and cavity get separated, is called the Tooling axis.
Phase 1:- In phase 1 we import Class A surface in Catia. That Class A surface may be in the different part surfaces, so we join them using JOIN Command in CATIA. For confirmation of joining we use BOUNDARY command, If boundary shows no error then we go for phase 2.
Phase 2:- In Phase 2 we create Tooling axis of the product then we do draft analysis of it.
We create a dummy tooling axis by visualizing the product. We choose dummy tooling axis such that product's manufacturing will be easy. In our Base cover along Z axis will be our dummy tooling axis.
Now we extract the bottom surface and draw a line for rib creation.
No we extrude that line for 0.5*t distance along tooling axis.
Now we go to part design and thicken the extrude for 0.4*t thickness.
Now we give 0.5 degree draft to all faces
Now we create 0.25mm radius fillet.
Now we repeat all steps for creation of 2nd rib at a distance of 6mm.
Rib root thickness analysis
Here is the draft analysis of the product

Week 8 - Challenge 5 - Core & Cavity Design
First we create boundary from CLASS A Surface Then we extrapolate that boundary Then we extrapolate CLASS C Surface Then we trim CLASS A and CLASS C Then we trim CLASS A, CLASS B and CLASS C to get parting surface with component Then we create a rectangular sketch and extrude that along tooling axis for core block creation…
