AIM-
TO DESIGN THE CORE AND CAVITY BLOCKS FOR THE SWITCH BEZEL.
CORE & CAVITY DESIGN
SINCE WE ARE WORKING ON THE CORE AND CAVITY DESIGN EXERCISE, I CHOSE THE PREVIOUSLY DESIGNED SHAPE.
THE PART IS SWITCH BEZEL WITH THE THICKNESS OF 2.5mm.
THE CLASS-A AND CLASS-C OF THE PART ARE TRIMMED AND LATER TRIMMED WITH CLASS-B SURFACE TO PRODUCE THE PARTING SURFACE (WITH COMPONENT AREA)
PARTING SURFACE-
IT IS THE DIVIDING LINE THAT SPLITS THE CORE AND CAVITY HALVES OF A MOLDED PART.
THE PARTING SURFACE IS SAID TO BE PARTING SURFACE WHEN IT IS TRIMMED WITH THE PARTING LINE.
IT IS CREATED FROM EXTRAPOLATED CLASS-A SURACE AND IS TRIMMED WITH CLASS-C AND THEN WITH CLASS-B SURFACES
CORE DESIGN-
CAVITY DESIGN-
PARTING LINE-
PARTING LINE REPRESENTS WHERE THE TWO DIFFERENT SIDES OF THE MOLD COME TOGETHER. THIS LINE OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) MARKS THE BORDER BETWEEN THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE PART.
TO CREATE THE PARTING LINE THE INTERSECTION HAS TO BE CREATED BETWEEN CLASS-A AND CLASS-C SURFACES.
RESULT-
THE CORE AND CAVITY BLOCKS WERE DESIGNED FOR THE SWITCH BEZEL.
CLOSED BODY(CORE)
CLOSED BODY (CAVITY)
INTERSECTIONS
ORANGE LINE- PARTING SURFACE WITH COMPONENT AREA
GREEN LINE- CAVITY BLOCK
YELLOW LINE- COMPONENT
BLUE LINE- CORE PART
BLACK LINE- TOOLING AXIS
PINK LINE- PARTING LINE
FEATURE TREE-
CORE AND CAVITY BLOCKS AFTER TRANSLATION
