Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design

Objective:

offsetting and Sweeping out of Class B and Class C surface and performing draft analysis on Class A surface and final solid body of coin holder.

Software: 

CATIA V5 

Commands, Features used:

• Extract and multiple Extract
• Point
• Line
• projection of 3D element
• Bisecting Line
• Trim
• Extrapolate
• boundary
• sweep
• close surface

Tooling Axis:

Tooling axis is the axis of tooling direction.

• there are several ways of creating tooling axis in this project base is flat and we used intersect command to find out angle between walls and base.
• found that there 90 degree angle between base surface and wall surfaces.
• so easiest methos has chosen which is creating perpendicular line as a tooling which is perpendicular to base surface.

draft analysis performed on Class A surface found that it is good to go.

After that B Surface usin Extract, Untrim, Extrapolate, Trim, commands and trim applied on these.

and C Surface formed sweep commands

after that C surface and A Surface joined and then this join trim with B surface.

and now we have closed surface

and now in part workbench this close surface given thickness to form a final part body of coin holder.

Result:

Tooling axis, class B Surface, Class C Surface and final part body of coin holder is formed using given Class A surface and also draft analysis tested.
