OBJECTIVE:
To mesh the given component in accordance with the quality criteria given below and to assign thickness.

PROCEDURE:
1. Go to Import Solver Deck>>Select Model>>Import.
2. Change the view to "By Topo" to check for geometrical errors in the geometry.
3. Go to defeature>>surf fillets>>surfs>>give the fillet range>>find>>remove.
4. Since the part geometry is complex, manual midsurface extraction is done to extract the mid surface. First the base is extracted.
5. For the ribs with tapered structured use the following midsurface option shown in the figure below.
6. Go to Geom>>surfs edit>>extend>>select the ribs>>extend to the base. Once this is done, then we will get a yellow line stating that T-Connection has been established.
7. The extracted midsurface is cleaned using quick edit tools. The edges are toggled accordingly.
8. The extracted midsurfaces are moved to individual component collector based on their thickness as shown in the figure below.
8. Go to 2D>>automesh>>select the surfaces along with ribs>>mixed>>Mesh. The initial meshed model is obtained.
9. Go to 2D>>quality criteria>>check for the quality of the mesh.
10. Use the cleanup tools to obtain the required quality of mesh. Once this is done save the failed elements.
11. Go to 2D>>elem cleanup>>retrieve>>cleanup. This is shown in the image below.
12. Go to 2D>>rebuild mesh>>select the elements in the region where there are more tria elements>>rebuild.
13. Repeat the steps 9-12 to arrive at the given quality criteria.
14. Use the edit element and replace options in the 2D panel to alter the mesh quality. This is shown in the figure below.
15. Go to Components View tab>>Create Property>>Assign thickness to respective component collector. This is shown in the image below.
16. Go to Components View tab>>Create>>Material>>Steel. Assign this material to the all the components.
17. The final meshed model in 2D element representation is shown in the figure below.
18. The final meshed model in detailed representation according to property is shown in the figure below
RESULT AND CONLCUSION:
Mid surface extraction is done in the geometry and it is meshed in accordance with the quality critieria given. Suitable thickness is assigned to the geometry.
