AIM: to create a 3D model of a flow bench and run flow analysis and obtaining a plot of lift vs mass flow rate
introduction :
this assignment is about studying the characteristic of the fluid flow in a intake manifold like structure where we observe what happens for different valve lift condition the mass flow rate and the force on the value due to air flow are obtained as goal from this we can have a idea of how a fluid behaves in a intake manifold, and we also consider the suitable mesh size for this analysis so that we can achieve close to accurate solution withought wasting much effort in computation.
Explanation:
> making the model using the dimension
cylinder -0.15
intake manifold-.0.020
valve-0.025
>set local refined mesh at the valve location so that we get accurate results
>the using the flow simulation wizard make a internal flow simulation then setup the intial boundry condition(1bar manifold and 0.5 bar at the cylinder end,
>suface goals-massflow rate at the inlet with this we can calculate the amout aair flowing through the valve into the cylinder
>set up the flow trajectories of pressure and velocity this helps us to understand the how the fluid parameters varies at different positions.
>make a parameteric study measuring the mass flow for different valvle list condition
>i ran the simulation for 200 iteratration.
result :
the results show that the parametric study between 3 and 4 as automatic mesh doesn't affects the mesh much
mass flow rate is increase marginally with initial valve lift and remains the same after a sufficient amount of lift
valve lift from design point 6to1
6-fully closed
1-fully open
errors&problems:
>this is the experiment i spent the most time on out of all the other experiment ,cause i was not getting the mass flow rate as i expected so i thought i was making a mistake and changed a whole lot of parameters like goals ,mesh refinement and all that then i concluded that the result is ok
>i didnt notice the clock running for this expremiment so icoudn't confirm the results with my support engineer
>i guess i made a mistake
