DESIGN OF BACKDOOR
AIM:
To design backdoor of the car and make the upper and bottom outer panel and inner panel for the back door and also design the make reinforcements.
software: catia v5
TOOLING AXIS:
Make sure to create a tooling axis to clear draft analysis process to manufacturing process.
COMPONENTS OF THE BACK DOOR:
1) Outer upper panel
2) Outer bottom panel
3) Inner panel
4) Striker reinforcement
5) Hinge reinforcement
6) Gas stay reinforcement
7) Wiper motor reinforcement
UPPER AND BOTTOM OUTER PANEL:
The upper outer panel of back door to created by given back door panel. And creat a smooth surface.
* Make upper and bottom outer panel hemming process:
In the mechanical joining process described in the pervious section, an external element, such as rivet or screw, is insereted into the sheet stack to make the joint. In the hemming mechanical joining is done by simply folding the outer edge of one sheet over the outer edge of the second sheet. The hemming operation is usually a three-step process that includes flanging ,prehemming ,and hemming processes.
HEMMING:
THICKEN SURFACE:
Both upper and bottom outer panels make 0.75mm downword thickness.
DRAFT ANALYSIS TO UPPER AND BOTTOM OUTER PANEL:
Make sure thicken surface clear draft analysis.
INNER PANEL:
Back door inner panel to create inner and outer sealing flange to create with process in tooling axis.
INNER PANEL EMBOSS CUTS:
Embossing is a metal forming process for producing raised or sunken designs or relief in sheet materials by means of matched male and female roller dies, theoretically with no change in metal thickness or by-passing sheet or a strip of metal between rolls of the desired pattern. Metal sheet is drawn through the meal and female roller dies producing a pattern or design on the metal sheet. Depending on the roller dies used, different patterns can be produced on the metal sheet.
Materials commonly used in the metal embossing process include:
1) Aluminum alloys
2) Steel alloys
3) Zinc
4) Copper
5) Galvanized steel
6) Brass
7) Cold roller steel
DRAFT ANALYSIS:
In draft analyaia for back door inner panel. with clearing the tooling axis.
REINFORCEMENTS:
Back door for creating a reinforcements to fixing in hinge and its reinforcement, wiper motor reinforcement, stricker and its reinforcement and gas stay reinforcement.
ASSEMBLY OF BACK DOOR:
We need to assemble the upper and inner outer panel inner panel and reinforcements to assemble the backdoor.
CONCLUSION:
The back door outer and inner panel we designed with the help of the styling surface along the tooling axis or tooling direction and Draft analysis was performed on the inner panel and all the reniforcements we designed and placed at appropriate positions.
