BENCHMARK

• Benchmarking is the practice of comparing business process and performance metrics to industry bests and best practices from other companies. Dimensions typically measured are quality, time and cost.
• Benchmarking is used to measure performance using a specific indicator (cost per unit of measure, productivity per unit of measure, cycle time of x per unit of measure or defects per unit of measure) resulting in a metric of performance that is then compared to others.
• Also referred to as "best practice benchmarking" or "process benchmarking", this process is used in management in which organizations evaluate various aspects of their processes in relation to best-practice companies' processes, usually within a peer group defined for purposes of comparison. This then allows organizations to develop plans on how to make improvements or adapt specific best practices, usually with the aim of increasing some aspect of performance. Benchmarking is one-off event, but is often treated as a continuous process in which organizations continually seek to improve their practices.

CASE GIVEN:

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Vitara Brezza Specifications

The Vitara Brezza utilises a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that develops 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. It’s offered with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter. The variants also come with Maruti’s 12V mild-hybrid system, which adds functions like start-stop and torque boost assist.

An RTO document reveals that Maruti Suzuki could offer the petrol manual variants of vitara brezza with a 12V mild-hybrid system. It utilises Maruti’s tried-and-tested 105PS 1.5-litre K15B petrol motor paired to a 2.4PS electric motor, which aids in start-stop function and torque boost assist. If launched, it could be offered in four variants: LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+.

Maruti’s sub 4-metre SUV, the Vitara Brezza is one of its most successful models in the Indian market. The Brezza is currently priced from Rs 7.39 lakh to Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

ABOUT VENUE

Hyundai India has launched the Venue iMT at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s offered with the 120PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and comes in two variants. The clutchless transmission utilises a 6-speed gearbox and takes care of the clutching duties.

Hyundai has also introduced a new Sport trim which comes with plenty of sporty cosmetic enhancements. Moreover, there’s a new top-spec S+ variant introduced in the 1.2-litre petrol variant which is priced from Rs 8.32 lakh (ex-showroom).

Specifications

The Venue is offered with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. Petrol engine options consist of a 83PS 1.2-litre petrol and a 120PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol while the diesel variant comes with a 100PS 1.5-litre unit. MAHINDRA XUV 300

About Mahindra XUV 300

It is likely to be the XUV300 Sportz which was displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo. Mahindra was expected to launch it in April 2020 but it got delayed due to the pandemic.

Under the hood, the XUV300 Sportz will pack a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which will produce 130PS of power and 230Nm of twist, 20PS/30Nm more than the standard model. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual transmission, and it is expected to add an automatic gearbox later. Once launched, it will be the most powerful vehicle in its segment.

XUV300 Specifications

The Mahindra XUV300 is offered in four variants: W4, W6, W8, and W8(O). While the petrol engine is manual transmission-only, the diesel offers an AMT automatic gearbox in the W6, W8, and W8(O) trim levels.
