CHALLENGE 1:

For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

ADVISOR :

Advisor means that advanced vehicle simulator. It is designed for rapid analysis of the performance and fuel economy of conventional, electric, and hybrid vehicles.advisor takes the required/desired speed as an input, and determines what drivetrain torques, speeds, and powers would be required to meet that vehicle speed. It allows user to change vehicle specifications such as engines, batteries, fuel cells and other components. advisor helps to simulate vehicle under various conditions.

we have to select metric system before we start the advisor

As per challenge cargo mass given as 500kg and EV_defaults_ file has been loaded, other parameters has been kept default.

we have to select drive cycle as CYC_FTP (Federal test procedure) and run the cycle for 3 times, so that we came to know about maximum distance can vehicle runs.

Result shows that vehicle only run 41.4km, because according to mass and battery capacity of the vehicle it calculates the energy, if we change mass or by increasing the battery capacity, there is possible of increase in distance.

CHALLENGE 2:

In above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

By keeping all the parameter same and changing only battery capacity.the battery has changed from 25cells to 28cells

RESULT

Distance covered by the vehicle has been increased from 41.4km to 46.3km when we increased battery capacity.

CHALLENGE 3:

Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

SOLUTION:

load the data of prius_jpn in the load file box.

now select the gradeability test to perform gradeability, and select ALL SYSTEMS ENABLED option so that both IC engine and battery will get functioning.speed is given as 70mph

speed given as 70mph, gradeability for 112.7km/h is 6.3%

now we run the simulation for same speed 70mph, and increase the grade angle above 8%

Simulation fails to run because maximum possible gradeability at 70mph is 8.9%, the blank space refers that vehicle can't climb 8% gradeability at constant speed of 70mph.
