WIRING HARNESS FLATTENING
In this challenge, we are going to perform the flattening operation on a wiring harness assembly and create a drawing for the same.
To create the Flattening Product we first need a wiring harness assembly. So let's start routing our assembly first as per the layout given below.
Since we have already saved the electrically defined connectors in our catalogue, we can directly import all the connectors in an assembly and place them as per the above layout and start creating the bundles accordingly.
A protective covering for the bundles can be added to the bundles from the catalogues.
Now before we start flattening this assembly, we need to set a few parameters and save them in a product file.
Note: Make sure this parameters file is saved along with our harness assembly. It is mandatory to save the parameter file along with the harness assembly file as it will synchronize data from the same drive/location.
Now open both the parameters file and harness assembly file in separate windows and extract the assembly file in the parameters file.
Note: For easiness set the windows side by side and extract the assembly file into the parameters file. To extract first select the parameters product symbol, select extract and click on the assembly file on the other window.
Now flatten the product using the Flatten option in Wiring Harness Installation Workbench. Select one branch and click on the select all branches option. This will select all the branches connected with each other. Also, select a plane in which we need our drawing to be represented.
Flatten Assembly
Create a new drawing sheet and present the view in it. Make sure the drawing properties are set appropriately.
The file can also be saved in the pdf for presentation purposes.
