1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Advisor: Advisor(Advanced Vehicle Simulator) is a matlab/simulink based simulation tool which is helpful to analysis the performance of convention, hybride and electric vehicle by running some data which is pre loaded in to the programe.
Solution:
1-
in this above model simulation of Electric vehicle has done by changing the cargomass to 500, remaining conditions are maintained as default.
in this the motor of 25 Kw has used which has 91% of efficiency which is shown in the above picture.
Federal Test Procedure CYC_FTP drive cycle is added to know the performace of the vehicle.the details like distance traveled by the vehicle in single chrage is shown, these data is helpfull to predict the performace of new vehicle were used the same capacity of the motors.
single drive cycle does not satisfies the given question, it does not complete 45Km in single drive cycle.
we can see the state of charge of the battery,it still has charge so that it can perform another drive cycle, to know how much distance vehicle can travel we need to add extra drive cycle.
to know the SOC(State of Charge) of the battery and to know how much distace vehicle can travel,the count of drive cycle has increased to 3.
we can see the discharge of the battery in above image,in middle of 3rd drive cycle the battery left no charge in it in
the total distance that the vehicle traveled is 41.4 Km.
Vehical can not travel 45 Km with the given drive cycle.
2-
battery(KW): 30
by increasing a battery capacity 25Kw to 30Kw the vehicle can travel a distance up to 47.9km, this can be seen in below image.
the Soc of battery can be seen in the above image where it getting reduced drastically.
no emissions for the Electric vehicle.
in the above image it is shown that the vehicle is failed to complete 4th driving cycle so it is better to improve the power of battery.
3-
tayota prius is a hybride vehicle developed by the Toyota in japan, in this we are going to analysis the performance of tayota prius by using the ADVISOR simulating tool.
tayota prius has a gradeability of 6% which is quite less compared to the other commercial vehicle's.
in this simualtions going to find how the change in gradeability can effect the vehicle Soc has explained.
in this above simulation road grade is kept as 1.5 insted of 0, so that we can see the change in soc by changing the Gradeability of the vehicle.
in the below image gradeability is chaged to 8% and the results are.
the above soc chart show the effect of gradeabity on the performance of the vehicle.
Conclusion:
1-Vehical can not travel 45 Km with the given drive cycle.
2- changing the battery capacity can improve the performance of the vehicle.
3- chaging the gradeability of the vehicle has an effect on soc of the vehicle.
