Assignment 1-2D Meshing Challenge
Aim: - Extract mid-surface and mesh the components.
Objectives: -
Procedure: -
1. Firstly, import the model.
Command: -{File>>open>>model}
Given Model: -
Part 1 : -
2. Now, view the model in topology mode & clean the geometry.
-Clean those areas where red lines as well as yellow lines are present.
3. After that, create mid-surface.
Command: -{Geometry>>mid-surface>>Auto-extract>>select-surface>>extract}
-Mid-surface.
4. Now, toggle the unnecessary lines and fill the holes less than 5 mm in diameter.
-measure the diameter of holes
Command: - {Geometry>>distance>>thee-point}
-As the radius is 0.9972, so the diameter is 1.9944 = 2 mm.
-Fill the holes by using filler surface.
Command: - {Geometry>>quick edit>>filler surface}
-toggle unnecessary lines.
5. Now, the mesh, the model.
Command: - {2D>>auto-mesh>>select surface>>element size 5>>mesh}
-set criteria for meshing.
-Set the maximum & minimum size.
-Rotate the node for better mesh flow.
Command: - {Tool>>Rotate>>select nodes>>rotate}
-align the node to the geometry.
Command: - {Tool>>translate}
Final mesh: -
-Always view mesh element in element quality as shown in above image.
6. Now, create the property & assign the thickness.
-Also create material.
7. Check the free edges.
Command: - {Tool>>edge>>select element>>find edges}
-View the model in 2D Detailed Element Representation.
Final Model: -
-Now, do this procedure to other remaining models.
Part 2: -
-Clean the geometry.
-Extract mid-surface.
-Mesh the component.
-Create property and assign thickness.
-Create material.
-Assign properties & material.
-View the model in 2D Detailed Element Representation.
-Final Model: -
Part 3: -
-Clean the geometry.
-Extract mid-surface.
-Mesh the component.
-Create property and assign thickness.
-Create material.
-Assign properties & material.
-View the model in 2D Detailed Element Representation.
-Final Model: -
Learning Outcomes: -
1. Learn to clean the geometry.
2. Learn to extract mid-surface.
3. Learn to create 2D mesh.
4. Learn to assign proper thickness, by creating a property.
Conclusion: -
In this 2D meshing challenge, we clean the geometry, extract the mid-surface & mesh the given model with given quality criteria.
