Objectives :- The given Rear door FE model, Create and Apply different PIDs for different components. Perform suitable connections.
Procedure:-
1. Firstly, import the given model.
2. Check the geometrical errors once.
3. Create PID for all components.
{Topo>>Faces>>Set PID}
4. Now, create connections.
1. Bolt connections:
Bolted joints are one of the most common elements in construction and machine design. They consist of fasteners that capture and join other parts, and are secured with the mating of screw threads.
For this bolt connection, we have to create a 3D point using COG points.
{Topo>>Points>>On COG>>Point}
Select points-
COG point are created.
Now convert that point into a bolt.
For that, go to the assembly and open convert select 3D point then select bolt.
After that, go to connections and select bolt connection and press middle mouse button.
Go to modify option and press (fn+F1) and Select the Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.
Lastly, press apply and realize tab.
2. Spot Weld Connection:-
Spot welding (also known as resistance spot welding) is a resistance welding process. This welding process is used primarily for welding two or more metal sheets together by applying pressure and heat from an electric current to the weld area.
For this Spot connection, again we have to create a 3D point using COG.
All the step are same as previous connection.
Select spot weld point in connection type.
Now go to the connection manager in assembly and select the spot weld point and press the middle mouse button.
Select FE type RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 and for PSOLID ID press (shift+?) and create new property.
3.CBUSH Connections:-
A CBUSH element is a ZERO Dimension (can be used with coincident nodes) generalized spring and damper element. It is defined in Nastran using the CBUSH element card between two nodes, and the PBUSH property card. It is versatile, has powerful capabilities, and one element is sufficient to define stiffness along multiple degrees of freedom.
For this type of connection, we have to create curve using feat2curve.
{Mesh>>Perimeter>>Feat2curve}
Select all the edges of the FE.
Hide the FE mode.
Offset that curve using transform>>copy
Convert that curve into a spot line.
Now go to the connection manager in assembly and select the line.
After CBUSH connections are successfully done, go to modify and select orient with cord and also CID with 0 co-ordinates.
4.RBE2 Connections:-
The RBE2 element can be used for connecting two nodes to model a ‘rigid’ welded type connection, with all 6 DOFs, or a pinned connection with 3 translational DOFs.
For this type of connections, We have to create connections for door handle.
Go to the Nastran deck>>Element>>RBE2
Do same for other side.
Now set the mass using CONM2 option, connect both RBE2 connection.
{Nastran>>CONM2>>nodes}
Set the mass is 100 gm.
Note: Convert 100 gm to 1 tonne because in ANSA if you put 1 in mass column it means 1 tonne is provided.
So here we put 0.0001 tonne.
Now make RBE2 connections to other remaining holes.
Final Model:-
Conclusion:-
In this challenge, we learn about the different types of connections like bolt, spot weld, seam weld, CBUSH and RBE2 connections with different components.
