Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Question 1: For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
Solution 1. A EV_Default_in car has a total weight of 1144 kg with 136kg cargo weight included when made to run with a 4 FTP drive cycle which is total distance of 70.8km with a battery capacity of 25kw , 308V covers a total distance of 48.2km before the battery power exhautsed. Where as when the cargo weight is increased to 500kg is could run only for 41.4km. Which means as the weight incease the battery dischagers quickly.
Question 2: In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Solution 2. Now the battery type is changed to nimh (show in black box) which increase the battery power to 65kw, 436V, which in results increase the distance covered to 70.9km with all the parameter same as taken in above question 1.
Question 3:
Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Solution3. As we can see from gradeability test of Toyota Prius Japan model when the speed of vehicle changes the percentage gradeability also changes.
