Aim: To model columns for industrial steel structure using TSD
Introduction:
General Arrangement: Planning column positions in the layout as per intput drawings considering the openings. To provide expansion joints as per IS: 800:2007. Provide primary beams to tie columns and break the effective lenght. Provide seondary beams to syupport floor and brick wall. Model slab on beams. Plan the moment connections framing and provide bracing bracings for lateral stability
. Modeling: Start by creatuing a new model with the desing codes and parameters set as per codal provision. Setting and materials commands on the HOME ribbon tab to be reviewed to ensure the required options are selected. Define constriction levels indicating the spacings of the floor as per the architectural drawings. Here we have a Assignments-1 Drawing have 3 Level from ground floor. The spacing from ground to first floors is 5.2 meter and first floor to Top roof Beam level is 6.8 m, then Top Roof Beam level to Top Roof Level is 4.880m
. Column & Beam Creating: Creati coumn property (size, height, grade of steel) using properties window. The properties to be created using manage property for each type of column. Select plan view to model the columns. Define and review the properties of the column . Insert columns on grids or constrcution lines as per the planned generalk arrangement. Model promary and secondary steel beams using storey level on plan. Manage properties beam and assign the properties to each type of beam
Question: 1
Aim: To Create column properties for different types of pedestal members and model in the grids created as per the assignment-1
Procedure: Open the TSD software
. And click on new option to creat new model
. Then Save the file Name as STEEL BUILDING
. Initially to access the setting we have to Go HOME tab , Inisde the Home tab there is a setting option here
. Then under the setting Here the option called GENERAL , RESULT VIEWER, REPORT DESIGN SETTING, like lot of setting are there.
-Units: Here i select the #Unit setting -->Select setting set to edit: India Setting (active)
. System --> Metric
. Press ok
- Design Code : Here we need to provide the Head code and Design code for creating model as given below setting.
- Design Setting: Analysis Setting: Here select the First order (Elastic ) analysis
. Beam Setting:
. Select Design setting Option
. Here Extend the Cocncrete Option --> Beam
. Select the settings set to edit: India Setting(active)
. Country : India
. Then Longitudinal bars size are default as given the setting
. Slab Setting:
. Here Extend the Cocncrete Option --> Slab
. Select the settings set to edit: India Setting(active)
. Country : India
. Here select the Slab on Beam
. Provide the Minimum clear spacing :150
. Minimum spacing (slab auto-design): 150
. Then other values are defauld as given setting
. Auto setting:
. Here
. Select the settings set to edit: India Setting(active)
. Country : India
. Here to change the Autodesign to off : Always
- Material Setting:
. Now select the Material option form under the Home tab
. Click on material option and the material dialouge box appears on display
. Then select the option material
. Under the material drop down the list and select material type as steel and grade as FE410
. And Under the Reinforcement provided the Code, country, Type of bars and Rib types as given belwo alignment
. Default class: Fe415
. Now all the setting have provided for creating modeling
-To Creat Construction Levels:
. Now Go to The Model Toolbar from Ribbon Tab
. Then select the construction levels
. The construction level dialogue box appear on display
. Select Base level --> Insert Above
. To give the Name for each levels as Base, Ground floor, 1sr floor Level and , Top of the Roof Beam level, Top of the Roof Level.
-To creat Construction line for creating Column, Beam :
. Now Select the Grid Line to creat the single line as verticlly is called -1
. Then select the tool for Parralel ( Quick)
. Selec the Properties:
. Architectural Grid-->AG3
. Grid line naming--> Alphanumeric
. Nextr Grid Name 2
. And Select the A line to draw the parralel line to offset of 6m,7m, and 5meter as shown in below
. Now Selec the Perpendicular Tool
. Then select the Line for which line to draw the perpentidular
. Select Reference line -->Pic point of perpendicular-->Pick point1--> pick point 2, The name is called-A
. Press Escape
. And similarly To draw the parralel line A to Horizontally
. Then select the tool for Parralel ( Quick)
. Selec the Properties:
. Architectural Grid-->AG3
. Grid line naming--> Alphanumeric
. Nextr Grid Name B
. And Select the A line to draw the parralel line to offset of (3075,3000,7200,2800,3000,5000) as shown in below.
. After creating the grid line To convert the solid style by using follwoing step
. To Creat dimension:
. Select dimemsion toll form Under the Model tab -->Miscellaneous Setting --> Dimension
. To mar the All dimension as gvien below diagram
. Now to Draw the Projection of D and 1 Inter section line As per Assignment -1 Column position
To Creat Modelling:
-To creat Pedestal Column:
. Go to manage Property sets
. Ceate New-->Under the Member--> Change the Namre as PD(Pedstal Column)
. Now select the Grade is : M 25
. Section : 400x400
. To Select the section:
. Majaor Aligement: Center
. Now Go to the Model Tab
. Slect Concrete Column--> Pick Point 1
. Similarly All the Pedestal column are provided by given below diagram
. 3D View:
. Apply Properties:
. Scene Setting: Unselect the Grid Line , then select all the Pedestam Column
. Then Right click--> Apply Property Setting--> Select Member -->PD
- To Validate: In this step using for find the Physical Model Issue
. To select the Validate option from under the Model Tab
. Now Dialogue Box appear on display
. Here No Error

Aim: Create column properties for steel columns and model columns in the grid created as per assignment-1
Procedure:- To Creat Steel Column: Now to Select the Ground Floor for creat steel column:
. Go to manage Property sets
. Ceate New-->Under the Member--> Change the Namre as C (Column)
. Now select the Grade is : M 25
. Section Order:
. To Select the section:
. Section : MB 300
. Majaor Aligement:Bottom
. Now select the Releases:
. Fixity Top: Fixed
. Fixity Bottom: Pinned
. Steel Column Property:
. Now Go to the Model Tab
. Slect Steel Column--> Pick Point 1
. Similarly All the Steell column are provided by given below diagram
. Apply Properties:
. Scene Setting: Unselect the Grid Line , Concrete column, then select all the Steel column
. Then Right click--> Apply Property Setting--> Select Member -->C
. 3D View:

- To Validate: In this step using for find the Physical Model Issue
. To select the Validate option from under the Model Tab

- Solver view: In this view Used for know the section of the diagrame

Aim: To Create beam properties and model primary and secondary beams on the ground floor assignment-1
-To Creat Primary Steel Beam:

. Ceate New-->Under the Member--> Change the Namre as B(Beam)
. Now select the Grade is : M 25
. Section Order:

. Majaor Aligement:Bottom
. Now select the Releases:
. Fixity Top: Fixed
. Fixity Bottom: Pinned
. Steel Beam Property:
. Now Go to the Model Tab
. Slect Steel Column--> Pick Point 1
. Similarly All the Steell column are provided by given below diagram
. Apply Properties:
. Scene Setting: Unselect the Grid Line , Concrete column, Steel Column, then select all the Steel column
. Then Right click--> Apply Property Setting--> Select Member -->C

-To Creat Secondary Steel Beam: Now to Select the Ground Floor for creat steel beam: Go to manage Property sets . Ceate New-->Under the Member--> Change the Namre as B1 (Beam1) . Now select the Grade is : M 25 . Section Order:
. To Select the section:
. Section : MB 200
. Majaor Aligement:Bottom
. Now select the Releases:
. Fixity Top: Fixed
. Fixity Bottom: Pinned
. Secondary Steel Beam Property:
. Now to creat the Secondary beam Construction line
. Select the Paralel(Quick)
. Then Edit (Fn+F2)
. To give the Offset value oh 2.66 Eacr Beam
. Now Go to the Model Tab
. Slect Steel Column--> Pick Point 1
. Similarly All the Steell column are provided by given below diagram
. Apply Properties:
. Scene Setting: Unselect the Grid Line , Concrete column, Steel Column, then select all the Steel column
. Then Right click--> Apply Property Setting--> Select Member -->C
. 3D View:

- To Validate: In this step using for find the Physical Model Issue
