Aim: to sketch a G+1 floor residential plan,according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.Also,assume the sizes of the structural elements(Coulmn,Beam,Slab) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.
Ground Floor Plan:
Dimensions:
Bedroom: 8'*11'
Bathroom: 6'*8'
Pooja: 3'*5'8"
Bedroom 2: 10'*16'
Kitchen: 10'*11'
Dining: 10'*11'
Hall: 16'*16'4.5"
Porch: 16'*11'
First Floor Plan:
Dimensions:
Bedroom: 8'*11'
Bathroom: 6'*8'
Pooja: 3'*5'8"
Bedroom 2: 10'*16'
Kitchen: 10'*11'
Dining: 10'*11'
Hall: 16'*16'4.5"
Terrace: 16'*11'
Member Dimensions:
All cloumns are of size: 300mm*300mm
All beams are of size : 300mm*450mm
Slab Thickness 125mm
The height of the wall is 4.5m
Thickness of the wall: 230mm
Important Structural Drawings for a project:
1. Centre line drawing
2. Footing and column layout with reinforcement details
3. Plinth beam layout with reinforcement details
4. First floor beam layout with reinforcement details.
5. First floor slab layout with reinforcement details.
6. Lift pit and headroom reinforcement details.
Load Calculations: As per IS 875:1987 part-1 for dead loads
1. Dead Load:
a) Columns:
I assumed height of column= 4.5m
Total Volume of concrete=0.300*0.300*4.5=0.405 m^3
Unit weight concrete= 25 KN/m^3
Self-weight of column= 25*0.54= 10.12 KN (per column)
b) Beams:
Total Volume of concrete=0.300*0.450*1=0.135 m^3
Unit weight concrete= 25 KN/m^3
Self-weight of beam= 25*0.135= 3.375 KN(per meter)
c) Slab:
Total Volume of concrete=1*1*0.125=0.125 m^3
Unit weight concrete= 25 KN/m^3
Self-weight of slab= 25*0.125= 3.125 KN(per square meter)
d) Wall:
Height of the wall= 4.5m
Thickness of the wall= 230mm
Unit weight of brick wall= 20 KN/m^3
Wall load= 20*4.5*0.23= 20.7 KN/m
2. Live Loads:
As per IS: 875(Part 2)- 1987 the live load of residential buildings
Bedrooms= 2 KN/m^2
Living room= 2 KN/m^2
Toilet= 2 KN/m^2
Bathrooms= 2 KN/m^2
Staircase= 3 KN/m^2
Kitchen= 2 KN/m^2
3. Wind Load:
As per IS: 875(Part 3)- 1987 the wind load is designed only when the building exceeds 10m. Here in this case the height of the building is 9m.Therefore calculation of wind load is not required.
Result:
i) A G+1 floor residential plan,according to Vaastu Shastra has been drwan.
ii) The names of the structural drawings required for the site for construction is provided.
iii) The individual corresponding loads from the members as IS code is calculated.
