7.
Aim:- Refer to NBC, Identify the modeling requirements for the project ( from week 4).
a. Height Limitations
b. Area Limitations
c. Room sizing
d. Wall height
e. Thickness based on fire life and safety
f. Passageway requirements
Introduction;- National building code is a document that provides guidelines for the construction of the structure
Answer:-
a. Height Limitations
As per NBC 2005 clause C- 2.5, the height of the building shall not exceed 15m (page number 43)
About my model:-
Height of my model is 20'-0" (6m)
My model height is less than 15m, Hence it follows NBC Guidelines
b. Area Limitations
As per NBC clause 2.3.1 page number 43
According to NBC the minimum plot size with ground ccoverage not exceeding 75%, shall not be less than 40Sqm in small and medium towwn, not less than 30Sqm in metropoliton area
About my model
Area covered by my model is 92 Sqm
My model area covered is greater than 40Sqm, Hence it follows NBC Guidelines
c. Room sizing
As per NBC clause 3.3 page number 43 the room sdimensions are mentioned here
About my model
My model room sizes are greater than NBC guidelines
My model room schedule is greater than code specification , Hence it follows NBC Guidelines
d. Wall height
According to NBC 2005 clause F-3.4 the minimum height of the rooms and the space should be
In case of sloping roof the average height of the roof for the habitable rooms shall be 2.75m and the minimum height at eaves shall be 2.1m
About my model
The height of the building is 3m which is greater than 2.75m
In my model the height of the building is 3m greater than 2.75, Hence it follows NBC guidelines
e. Thickness based on fire life and safety
The thickness for masonry wall is given by table 2 of fire and life safety section of NBC in 2005
About my model
In my model the thickness of the wall is 8" (203mm) which is greater than the NBC requirement
In my model the thickness of the wall is 8" (203mm) which is greater than the NBC requirement, Hence the model is safe
f. Passageway requirements
According to NBC 2005 table 1 page number 14 the width and length of the passage / road is given it should satisfy the condition
About my model
It satisfy all the conditions of the width and length of mean of access
My models satisfy all the conditions in the NBC, Hence the model is safe
Result:-
Here all the requirements like Height Limitations, Area Limitations, Room sizing, Wall height, Thickness based on fire life and safety, Passageway requirements are according to NBC
8.
Aim:- We have identified requirements for modeling from question 7, Use these numbers from code book and verify the numbers used in modeling the unit from week 2 to week 4. If the numbers are not reasonable, use the numbers obtained from the code book to create a revision of the mode.
This model resembles the actual modeling requirements for Project 1 of course work
Introduction;- National building code is a document that provides guidelines for the construction of the structure
Answer:-
Result:-
Here all the requirements like Height Limitations, Area Limitations, Room sizing, Wall height, Thickness based on fire life and safety, Passageway requirements are according to NBC
