Design of backdoor

Aim :

to develop the car bachdoor with the reference of given skin data as per engineering standard using NXCAD.

Back Door :

the back door is typically hinged but sometimes attached by some other mechanisumssuch as tracks in front of an opening which is used for entering and exit of the vehicle.

the vehicle door can provide access to the opening or closed to secure it.these doors can be opened maually or powered electrnica;ly.powered doors are are usually found on minivans, high end cars and modified cars.

Types of Back Door :

  1. 1.top mounted
  2. 2.side mounted
  3. 3. nottom mounted

top mounted

side mounted

bottom mounted

Design Consideration :

  • 1. visibility criteria
  • 2.latch and striker position
  • 3.hing position
  • 4. gas stay position
  • 5.space avilability
  • 5.drain holes
  • 6.hemming and relief areas

Components of Back Door :

The Components of Back Door as follows,

  1. 1.inner panel
  2. 2.outer panel
  3. 3.hinge reinforcement
  4. 4.latch and striker reinforcement
  5. 5.gas stay reinforecement
  6. 6.wiper motor reinforcement

Hinge Reinforcement :

hinges are essential that allows doors to pivot on one edge as they open and close.they found virtually on all doors.it is an mechanical bearing that coonects two solid objects, typically only allowing an limited angle of rotation between them.

Gas stay Reinforcement :

It is used to lift up the Tail gate.

There are two types of Gas stay reinforcement is there. That they are

  1. Manual System
  2. Power Lift System

Manual System :

This mechanism is most used in Indian cars. It is operated man by his own.

Power Lift System :

It works on the basics of Sensor.

Latch Reinforcement :

A latch is not the same as the locking mechanisumsof adoor, often they are found togerther on the same product.latches ranges from complexity one peice flat springes of metal or plastic, such as are used to keep blow moulded plastics ,power tool cases closed.to multipoint calmmed sketchesare used to keep large doors closed.

Wiber moter Reinforcement :

it is asmall electric motor which is mounted in the rear tail gate. it is used to clean the rear wind sheild for clear visibility.

force Distribustion :.

when the car hitted at rear end,the force which is acted should react outside.the Y emboss which helps to move the force to the other end.

Corner Relief:

relief helps to control sheet metal befaviour and to prevent unwanted deformation during unbend operations.

Hemming :

Hemming and seaming are two similar metalworking processes in which a sheet metal edge is rolled over onto itself. Hemming is the process in which the edge is rolled flush to itself, while a seam joins the edges of two materials.

Analysis: Draft analysis

every part which has been from press tool or other forming tools requires some positive draft on the faces which are parallel to the tooking direction.if we dont give negative drafts on this surfaces it will stick yto the mould surfaces and when the mould is in motion it will stick to the mould surfaces and the mould is in motionit will destroy surface and it reduces its surfsce finish, thus draft analysis enables us to dtect the part wheteher it can be easily ejected are not.

conclusion

the back door has been designed.
