ADVANCED SHEET METAL DESIGN USING NX CAD – BOX
OBJECTIVE
INTRODUCTION
Metal having thickness from 0.1mm to 6mm are termed as sheet metal. Extremely thin are termed as foils or leaf above 6mm are called as plate. Sheet metal are used in various products used in automobile industry , aeronautical industry. There are many other metals that can be made into sheet metals such as aluminium , copper , stainless steel etc.,
DESIGN METHODOLGY / APPROACH
FEATURES USED
TAB - TAB is the basic feature in the sheet metal environment in the NX CAD. TAB is the is the initial stage or startup of the sheet metal component. By using the TAB feature we create a base for sheet metal component and can decide the thickness of the sheet metal.
BEND – BEND feature is used to a part of the flat tab into the flange . It uses a sketch that includes bend line . BEND can be created either side of the bend line .
FLANGE –FLANGE feature is used to crate a extended portion or bend to the selected edge. While creating flange we have to set different parameters such as length , Bend radius , inset, bend relief , neutral factor
BREAK CORNER – BREAK CORNER is used to smoothen the harmful corners , we can add radius to it
UNBEND – UNBEND is used to flatten the sheet metal for further design
DIMPLE – DIMPLE is used to lift an area in the model inside the a sketch the simulates a forming tool
HOLE – HOLE is used to create holes in the sheet metal part
BEAD - BEAD is like a raised rib in the sheet metal
