GEOMETRY CLEAN UP AND 2D MESHING OF COMPONENTS USING HYPERMESH
OBJCTIVE
To carry out the geometry cleanup operation on the given 3 files.

PROCEDURE
- Geometry cleanup.
- Extracting midsurface.
- Cleaning midsurface geometry.
- Creating 2D mesh with target length 5mm, min 3.5mm max 7mm.
- Assigning property thickness
GEOMETRY CLEANUP
In hypermesh the free edges are denoted by RED lines and YELLOW lines indicate that there are more than two surfaces are in contact.
Using toggle option and delete surfaces the geometry is cleaned up such that all lines are green.
This is the imported geometry in wireframe view.
After the geometry cleanup the models are void of red and yellow lines.

EXTRACTING MIDSURFACE
Using the midsurface option, the midurface is created.
The extracted midsurface surfaces are
CLEANING MIDSURFACE GEOMETRY
Holes with less than 5mm diameter are removed by defeature option and unwanted lines are removed using toggle option.
CREATING MESH ELEMENTS. IMPLEMENTING QUALITY CRITERIA VALUES
Then using the automesh option under 2D panel the midsurface is meshed.
The target length is given as 5 mm and the minimum and maximum length values are given as 3.5 mm and 7 mm respectively.
QUALITY CRITERIA VALUES ARE ASSINGED AND ELIMINATING OFF ELEMENTS
Under TOOL option the CHECK ELEMENTS option is chosen.
Then the off elements can be seen.
By using various element edit option and cleanup tools under qualityindex, the off elements are reduced to zero.
Here it is ensured that mesh flow is not affected and trias are reduced to minimum value
ASSINGING PROPERTY THICKNESS
In the end a property card is created and thickness values are assigned to the mesh elements.
Then the mesh elements are viewed with thickness along with original geometry to check how well the elements have captured the shape and size of geometry.
CONCLUSIONS

- MIDSURFACE IS EXTRACTED
- 2D MESH IS DONE ON THE MIDSURFACE
- QUALITY CRITERIA VALUES ARE ASSIGNED
