Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 4 Challenge

Q1) To route the given harness layout in the Electrical workbench. By making an assumption for harness bundle diameters.

Use the following connectors as shown below in the layout diagram.

Add protective covering on all branches connected to DT06-2S & DT06-4S connectors. Keep end extremity at 30mm (from connectors end)

Solution:

Based on the layout diagram shown above the following connectors have been used for the routing.

Harness component

Based on the layout diagram connectors have been configured with reference to the base plate/environment to connect the bundles between connectors. The image below shows the multibranched bundle connection using an electrical harness assembly workbench in Catia V5. The image below shows the multi-branchable connection between the connectors as per the given harness diagram layout.

The multi-branched connected harness assembly has also been covered by protecting corrugated covers or tubes. The tubes have been imported from the existing catalog file. The image below shows the harness assembly with a protective cover as per the given extremity conditions.

Conclusion:

The above wiring harness assembly has been built as per the given layout and working conditions using Catia V5 and a wiring harness assembly workbench.
