Week 9 - Project - A pillar Design with Master Section
A PILLAR DESIGN WITH MASTER SECTION:
The objective is to create the class B and class C surface from the given class A surface.
To form solid body by combining all the surfaces.
To create a dog house using master section using all the design rules for dog house.
To perform draft analysis on class A surface and solid part.
A PILLAR:
The A pillars are the first set of upright sections on a car body that links lower body to the roof of the car, It acts as a major support structure during the impacts it is also medium to support the windshield of the vehicle. Apart from structural advantages the A pillar has a large effect on the overall aerodynamics of the vehicle.
MASTER SECTION:
Master section are the guidelines for design requirments which decide the component packaging after the styling suirface.

PRE-DESIGN CHECKS:
Before starting the design procedure, it is very important to ensure the quqlity of class A surface. This can be done with the help of the join operation or by using boundary feature.

TOOLING AXIS:
In this type of models of mastersection with dog house, make use of mastersection of dog house as referance to create tooling axis using bisection method.
DRAFT ANALYSIS:
Draft analysis is done on the class A surface after creating th tooling axis.
The draft should have angle of minimum 3 degrees.

CLASS B SURFACE:
Create class B surface after all the mandatory validation checks, take the help of the master section to knoe the thickness of the A pillar.

Offset the CLASS A surface to the distance of 2.5 mm
the ofset will fail to generate all the surface, using sweep command try to form the unformed surface.

CLASS C SURFACE:
The Class C surface which connects the class A and class B surface. Class C surface is created by sweeping with referance to class A surface. Try to break the sweep insted of using smooth curve. Then fill the rest of the areas using multisection. Join all the swept parts together using join.

Join surface A to surface C and trim the result with B finally it results in the closed surface.

exit generative shape design and go to part design and convert the component into closed body.

SIDE CORE AXIS:
Side core tooling axis is created by using normal to plane formed along the master section.
DESIGN OF DOG HOUSE:
To design dog house we create a new plane parallel through point w.r.t. side core axis and then draw a positioned sketch on the plane the plane. use the master section for the referance of the sketch, then use pad to create dog house.
Give the coring thickness as per the design rules of the dog house it is 40percent of the main wall thickness and the height of coring wall should not exceed 6mm.
Draft of 0.5 degrees is given on the walls of the dog house.
Perform draft analysis on the final component.

Drafr analysis w.r.t main tooling axis draft of 0.48degree.

draft analysis W.R.T main tooling axis: draft angle 3 degrees:
