1. Objective:
To Perform a morphing for the given two Models.
2. Procedure:
2.1 Introduction:
Change in Design and Shape of components without changing numerical inputs. E.g., changing a vehicle's existing dimension to the new modified version, just like making a sedan version of a vehicle by modifying an already existing compact version.
The Technique used here is called as Free-Free Morphing Method in this method we just morph the model in any direction just we want and give it a new shape and size. If the design is good then the design team will work in the particular direction of design change.
2.2 Model-1:
Step-1: Importing Model
Step-2: Switching to Morphing Deck
Step-3: Creating a Morphing Box
Goto > Morphing Deck > Boxes > New > Ortho > Select (selecting Geometry)
Now morphing Box is Created
Step-4: Changing shape and Size
To change it we are going to use the control grids created while creating a morphing box. Now to change the shape and size of the component we are going to use the Move option in the Box Morphing menu.
Here we can select the axis to modify it in a particular direction by entering values manually in the x,y, and z-direction. We can also modify components by just moving the morphing grid (control point).
To create a Local Coordinate system right-click anywhere in a morphing box as shown below.
Here we are going to move the control points in the x-direction only that’s why we need to deselect the y and z-direction movement as shown below.
Step-5: Morphing Other Parts
Here we are doing the same procedure to morph the model.
Step-6: selecting the whole body
Step-7: deleting morphing box
Use the delete option in the boxes to delete the created morphing boxes.
Step-8: Final
2.3 Model-2:
Step-1: Importing Model
Step-2: Switching to Morphing Deck
Step-3: Creating a Morphing Box
Goto > Morphing Deck > Boxes > New > Ortho > Select (selecting Geometry)
Step-4: Increasing the Height of the Dog houses and Ribs
Using Move Option in the Box Morphing Menu.
creating Local Coordinate by right-clicking inside the morphing box
remove the movement in the x, z-direction.
Step-5: deleting morphing box
Use the delete option in the boxes to delete the created morphing boxes.
Step-6: Final
Similarly changing the height of other parts and the Final Model is shown below.
3. Conclusion:
Hence, we are able to change the shape and size of components by performing Morphing.
The Morphing Tool is useful to change the model without changing its numerical inputs and it can work in both CAD models as well as FE models.
To change the model instead of going to the parent Cad model in parent CAD software and having it and again performing all the steps, Morphing allows us to the geometry even FE Model in Real-time.
Due to this Flexibility, the Morphing is used in the Automobile Industries to modify the components such as chassis, Outer parts, internal parts and etc, and Discussed in the introduction section. It is also useful in the industries where we are required to make multiple versions of the same component.
