Underbody Coating
UNDERBODY COATING IN PROCESS IN AUTOMOTIVE
Underbody coating is a process of spraying/painting the underbody of body in white sheet metal with strong and thick rubber like substance to prevent various causes which reduce the life or quality of vehicle body like corrosion, dust from road or water which can enters through the fixtures in metal body and damages in future.
The underbody coating process increases the quality of car body and maintains it for years by acting as shield for under portion of the metal body.
Under body coating is not equally processed in all the cars of different brands. It varies from one manufacturer to others.
Some of the automotive companies are aware of the environmental condition and manufacture their cars by coating the body in larger space and some of the companies under coats their cars in smaller space.
Larger the under-body coating and healthier the under body of the car. Underbody coating approaches in premier with several steps involved in preparing the car for painting in perfect condition.
The naked outer metal body of the car is dipped in a liquid to get a ED (electro-deposition) bath whereas the ions exchange takes place during the bath to make the outer body to fit for the perfect painting later.
The railings of robotic machines holding the metal sheet of the car and dips them for ED bath. This follow ups for all the cars queued up.
The automated robots rotate the outer body during the ED bath to get bath completely without missing any other regions.

When ED coating is done, the car is now send through the hot furnace to dry up the liquid droplets across the body of the car and keeps it in dry and clean before it takes a paint bath.
After the heating process, the BIW component sent to the preliminary coating before paint spray. The preliminary coating is very important which is coated in all the cars which makes the paint coated firmly over the car body which gives brand new luxury look for the car.
After the preliminary coating, the car body takes the underbody coating process whereas the complete process discussed above.
