UNDERBODY COATING

Underbody coating is an additional protective layer to protect the car's underbody vulnerable parts from damaging forces such as corrosion, moisture and dirty water ingress. It is dense cladding to spray or brush evenly on the cars under body. Mostly resin, wax and bitumen or asphalt-based material are used in underbody coating.

Purpose of underbody coating

• To prevent stone chip damage - Car underbody is durable elastic by underbody coating is to prevent from small size stones and other debris thrown by the road.
• To prevent water ingress - Due to dirty water ingress in offroad raid and rainy season underbody coating act like a sealant to prevent.
• To protect from corrosion - stone chip damage and water ingress are repellent by underbody coating to protect against corrosion.
• Minimises sound - Underbody coating provide a rubberized layer on the metal body, stone chip and other debris are hitting the car body and vibration from road dampened are minimize by the underbody coating.

Resin-Based Underbody Coating

Polyurethane and rubber coating are the resin-based underbody coating. It provides a thick layer up to 2 to 3mm. It gives high corrosion resists, absorb vibration and noise by stone chip on road. Resin based underbody coating are shown in IMAGE- 2.

Wax Based Underbody coating

It is excellent anti rust coating and prevent moisture ingress. It is more affordable than other underbody coating and life of coating is short period are shown in IMAGE- 3.

Bitumen Based Underbody Coating

It provides high level protection in compare to resin-based underbody coating. It gives long term stone chip damage and corrosion protection. A small amount of rubber added in coating for sound insulation. It also called as Asphalt Underbody Coating are shown in IMAGE-4.
