Underbody Coating
Hi colleagues,
regarding underbody coating,just like how people require shelter and additional care, cars need them too.A car’s underbody is exposed the most to muddy terrains, potholes, debris and stones, and wet and even flooded roads that lead to corrosion of the underbody. Since the underbody is hard for us to inspect by ourselves, it is important to have an underbody coating in order to ensure your car is protected during these times.
The main reason for getting an underbody coating is to prevent rusting and corrosion.This is especially required in hot and humid climatic conditions.The coating is also a must if you tend to live in coastal regions where the humidity in these areas speeds up the process of corrosion.
The car underneath holds vital components like the silencer,engine and numerous other wires and small engine components for different purposes in the car.The car’s underneath cannot simply be led to corrosion and further damage due to the car being driven during any weather condition.As image above shows,to avoid further major issues,the antirust coating is a must for the underbody.
Various car's producer are doing various thickness of coatings in various regions (example of region for underbody coating is given on umage bellow).There are Asian,EU,American standards for coating thickness that producer must obey.
Underbody coating regions
In benchmarking is very often analyzed and underbody protection of various cars.Average thickness of underbody coatings reagions is given,for front and rear areas of the car (min value is cca 20µm) and for underbody sealing this value is from 1,0mm - 7,00mm normaly.It depends of car's producer decisions how are various regions of the car underbody will be protected and the budget.
Sealant
As I have said the various regions are sealed with cca 1mm-7mm.
In conclusion,just ensuring your car looks nice outside and inside is not enough.It must be given great care of the underbody as well.The resale value would be also greatly affected due to high corrosion.It should not be left uncared for which would lead to permanent damage and huge losses and failures.The great pros is underbody coating protects against corrosion and ensures functionality and durability of the car and major cons is it affect the costs of the production and have impact on car's budget value.Anyway, underbody coating is a must,it is only a question to decide wich area should be coated and coating thickness value.
