CREATING AN ARCHITECTURAL PLAN FOR THE PROVIDED PLOT SIZE AND DEVELOP RELEVANT BASIC DRAWING |
AIM: To draw the Residential Building in the plot size of 60'X20' (18.3m X 6m) facing East direction with the following:
1. Architectural Drawing:
- Plot Area
- Ground Floor
- First Floor
- Elevation
- Section-AA
- Section-BB
2. Structural Drawing:
- Footing Layout
- Column Layout
- Beam Layout
INTRODUCTION:
To devolop an architectural plan and structural plan various commands used include:
- Xline or Construction line: This is used to draw infinite lines which are very much essential in developing sections and elevation.
- Line: Used to draw different entities like walls windows etc.
- Offset: This command also used ectensively to develop walls; for external walls an offset of 9' andf internal walls of 4.5' is taken.
- Trim: This tools is used to remove or erase the unwanted line.
- Extend: It is used to extend a line to joint the edge of another line or opposite line.
- Mirror: This tool is used to mirror/flip an object.
- Hatch: This tool is used to provide the approriate hatching to defferent portions like brick walls, concrete lintels etc.,
- Fillet: This tool is very much essential in developing corners wherer the radius can be provided as 0.
- Layer: This enable sus to assign different properties to different entities in a very easy way.
- Block: This feature is useing for any kind of material like furnitures, door, window etc., are creat with differend size and to insert the wherever its need in the plan form directly taken in the Blocks.
- Annotation: In this command are used for mention the Text and Dimension of the plan.
The following dimensions are used for in the plan:
- External wall: 9 inch
- Internal wall: 4.5 inch
- For stair case: Treads: 10 inch
- Reise: 7 inch
Assumed Dimension are:
Window:
- W- 6'X4'
- W1- 4'X4'
- W2- 3'X4'
- V- 2'X2'
Door:
- D- 3'-6"X7'
- D1- 3'X7'
- D2- 2'-6"X7'
DEFAULT PROCEDURE:
- Open the AutoCAD application frommy desktop
- Click file menu select New to creat a New Diagram
- Select Default setting for Imperial ( as feet and inch)
- In default setting click is use a wizard and in that advance setting and set unit as Engineerign and precission as 0 Press Enter.
- Set Angle Measurement as EAST
- Set Angle Direction as Counter-Clockwise direction
- Set Area of drawing by 200'X150' Because of Draw the whole drawing for in single page.
- Finish
- And Keep Ortho ON And where its neccesary to off the ortho can off
- Object snap ON
- Enter.

A. Plot Area:
Step by step Procedure:
- First Take a rectangular command
- Select first corner place for anywher
- Slect another corner place to give value of : @20',60'
- Now the given Plot area is created as shown in below

- Again take a rectangle command to creat Bulid up Area the size of 15'X16'
- Take offset command to Offset the wall, thickness of 9' inside
- And selet the center of the Build up Area to insert the plot area of center.
- To creat Text and Dimension:
- Click the Annotation tab
- for Multi text management style
- click >Manage text stly > New > Style Name> Architectural plan
- Font style > Areal, Text Heght> 8"

- Now click the annotation for making Dimension style and Height etc.,
- Click Manage Dimension stylr> New> style name> "Challenge -8"
- Ande to give the value of Text height and Arrow size, Extensio beyond line value , texlt colour , ert.,

- Now select the Linear dimension to provide the all dimension details on the plan
- Now select the Multitext command to provide the all necessary text to the plan as shown in below
- Now select the Hatch command to hatch the outer the build up area of Plot area
- Agan to using hatch command to hatch the wall area like given below of the plan.

- Finally to provide the separete colour of the separate portion by the usign layer properties and Editing the quick propertise .
- Finally the plot are was ceated as shown in below.

B. Ground floor plan:
Step by step Procedure:
- Initially copy the build up area line from the plot area plan
- And take offset command to separate the each rooms with required dimension with wall size of 9" and 4.5".
- Take a offset command
- Specify offset distance > 9" from EAST side inside wall
- again take offset command
- Specify offset distance > 8'-3"'
- And again Take offset command
- Specify offset distance of wall size 9"
- Again take offset command
- Specify offset distance as 16'
- Agin take offset command
- Specify offset distance > 9" off wall
- Again take offset command , Specify distance as > 9'
- Take offset command to specify the distance of 4.5" of wall size
- Take offset comamnd t0 specify the distance pf 4'
- Again the offset command to specify the distance of 9"wall size
- Now to draw the toilet area size of 8'-9"x4' west side of the Bedroom of Corner side.
- Next to draw the stair by using the line command
- Take a line command to specify the value of Tread - 10" Riser- 7"
- And now creat a Kitchen room
- Acoording Vaastu Shastra, Kitchen should be in a EAST side or SOUTH EAST side Living room should be NORTH Side or NORTH side
- So Kithchen and living (Corridor) room should be placed as per vaastu shastra
- And Trim or Erase the unwanted line by using TRIM Command
- Finally created the plan of room with wall size are shown in below

- To provide Doors and Windows with sunshade:
- For sunshade Hidden line
- Click line type > other
- Load > select ACAD_ISOO3W100
- gLOBAL SCALE FACTOR >1
- Enter
- Set the layer to Door
- To draft the doors D
- Use line command
- Specify point @anywhere in th drawing
- Take rectangle command to show the frame
- Specify length as 1.5"
- Specify the widthas 3"
- By using object snap move the rectangle at one end of the line and copy the rectangle and place over another end point of the linea as shown below
- Take a circle command to show the swing position of door
- Similarly draw the D1, and D2 doors as per above procedures

- To creat a Block for D
- Enter B in Command prompt
- Specify Name >DOOR 3'6"
- Select Pick point to pickup the door
- And select object
- press ok
- As same way to creat D1, and D2 also
- given below Block Definition are followed

- To Inser the Blocks
- Take insert command
- Select Current Drawing tab
- Slect DOOR 3'6" Drawing
- Select Scale> specify on screen
- Select Rotaion > specify on screen
- Enter
- Place the doors as per requirement
- Similarly place the other doors as per requirement
- Given Below of the definition are followed

- Now by using the line command and offset command to creat the window ventilators as per respective size.

- To Creat a Block for window
- B > Enter in command promt
- Spefy Name > WINDOW 6'
- Slecet teh object > selec WINDOW object>Enter
- As Same way to creat the Ventilators i given nam for Ventilator as W3 in shown in above
- Now Insert the window whereverr it is neccessary by the similar way as door
- It will shwo us following figure.

- To creat text
- Click on Annotation tab> Multi line
- Manage text style> New
- click >Manage text style > New > Style Name> Architectural plan
- Font style > Areal, Text Heght> 8"

- To creat Dimension:
- Click Annotation tab
- Click Manage Dimension stylr> New> style name> "Challenge -8"
- Ande to give the value of Text height and Arrow size, Extensio beyond line value , texlt colour , ert.,

- Now to creat layer properties for plan
- Click New layer
- Give the layer name >EXTERNAL WALL
- Turn on layer ON
- Set current layer
- Select layer colour No > 12
- Similar way to use this above procedure for follwoing plan and, section etc.,


- Now creat the column
- Set the column as current layer
- Take a rectangle command
- Specify the corner> @ anywhere ou of plan
- Specify Next corner point @9"x1'
- Take hatch command to hatch the coloumn with colour of 248,153,30.

- And copy this column and provide at the required position as shown in above the ground floor plan
- The Ground floor pal is created, as showmn in below

- First floor plan is are also same ground floor , however i draft with little chang for first floor , I exlpained procedue ia given below.
- Initially copy plan from the first floor outer wall
- And take offset command to separate the each rooms with required dimension with wall size of 9" and 4.5".
- Take a offset command
- Specify offset distance > 9" from EAST side inside wall
- again take offset command
- Specify offset distance > 8'-3"'
- And again Take offset command
- Specify offset distance of wall size 9"
- Again take offset command
- Specify offset distance as 16'
- Agin take offset command
- Specify offset distance > 9" off wall
- Again take offset command , Specify distance as > 9'
- Take offset command to specify the distance of 4.5" of wall size

- Now offest the [porch wall for " inside
- And Trim or Erase the unwanted line by using TRIM Command
- Finally created the plan of room with wall size are shown in below

Step by step Procedure:
- Change the current layer to wall
- Take the XLINE command
- Select > vertical
- Ground Floor:
- Specify the points required to take projectioj of ground floor plan for Elevation
- Take the offset command
- And give the standared Height of Pllinth level , floor level, window sill level and height , Door height column roofing concete level etc.,
- Specify offset distance of plinth level : 1.5'
- Again take a offset command to specify the distance of: 1"floor level from the plinth level
- Again take a offset command to specify the distance of floor height value : 10'
- Again take offset command to specify the distance of Lintel level as same for door height :7'
- Now take a offset command to specify the distance of roof concrete thickness as: 6"
- 1st Floor:
- Again take a offset command to specify the distance of: 1" floor level from the Ground floor roof level
- Again take a offset command to specify the distance of floor height value : 10'
- Again take offset command to specify the distance of Lintel level as same for door height :7'
- Now take a offset command to specify the distance of roof concrete thickness as: 6"
- Again take offset command to specify the distance of parapet wall : 3'
- Again take offset command to specify the distance from parapet wall : 5'
- Then specify the next point for stair roof concrete thicknesss of :4"
- Now creating the Elevation window:
- Again take offset command to specify the distance from the plinth level: 5'9"
- Again take offset command to specify the distance form the elevation wall both side : 2'
- Again take offset command to specify the distance from the above the stair room wall to the below : 4 "
- And Again take offset command
- Specify distance at Elevation Front wall window inside :3"
- Now parepat wall design created by using Arc option
- Now created the sunshade by using project of lintel
- Now trim unwanted line for perfect elevation view as shown in below
- Finally created the out line of Elevation as shown in below.

- To creat the door:
- Take recangle command
- Specify the lower cofrner point @ anywhere in this page
- Specify the upper corner :@3'x7'
- And separate the door by 2 Square Box shape
- And offset the square of inside by specify distance as 2"
- Then Handle was created by using arc command and line command as shown in the door given below
- Finaly created the Door

- To creat a Block for D
- Enter B in Command prompt
- Specify Name >DOOR 3'x7'
- Select Pick point to pickup the door
- And select object
- press ok
- As same way to creat D1, and D2 also
- given below Block Definition are followed

- Select Current Drawing tab
- Slect DOOR 3'7' Drawing
- Select Scale> specify on screen
- Select Rotaion > specify on screen
- Enter
- Place the doors as per requirement
- Similarly place the other doors as per requirement

- Now Selected Door to insert the required place as shown in the below diagram

- Now Take Hatch command for Hatching the Entire elevation
- The following Patterns and properties are used for this entire Elevation Colour by usin Hatching option
- Walls, Plinth area, Front elevarion glss, door and lintel , sunshade, and all Borders of the building, Hatch types are shown in below

- Specify the Lower corner point at anywhere in the page
- Specify the upper Corner:@6'x4'
- Then offset the rectangle for insdie distance of 2"
- Now separet the Double Casement window
- Again take offset command to window opener part of 4" inside
- Then Handle fixed by using line commad
- Now window is created
- To creat a Block for Window
- Enter B in Command prompt
- Specify Name >WINDOW 6'X4'
- Select Pick point to pickup the window
- And select object
- press ok
- As same way to creat W1, w2 and ventilator also
- given below Block Definition are followed

- Select Current Drawing tab
- Slect WINDOW 6'X4' Drawing
- Select Scale> specify on screen

A. Column layout:
Step by step Procedure:
- Initially trun off the layers except wall and column as per shown below

- And Innorder to obaint the coloumn drawing , initially copy the ground floor plan and then only retain the coloumn portion of the plan. as given below

- After this draw the centreline for walls and columns
- Now take Xline Command
- Now centre line layer on
- Mark the center line on each column centre by using Xline

- Then Draw the rectangle command for required length of center line extensionextension

- Now Trim outer of rectangle extent line by using Trim command, and delete the rectangel as shown in below fig.
- Now turn off the wall layer then copy the column and center line as shown in below

- Now change the current layer to the center line layer
- Click on line type > other
- Load select CENTER
- Global scale factor >10
- Enter
- Now select the center line on plan to changed to CENTER line layer
- Now To creat Dimension and Text by using Annotation command
- Click Annotation tab
- Click the layer to dimension layer
- Click the dimesnion
- Click >Manage dimension style for as same Challenge-8 dimension style and properties are used

- Then select linear dimension
- Provide the linear diemsnion for wherever necessary
- Now to creat text by using Annotation commad
- Her select Annotation tab
- Click Mnagement text style
- Style name >CENTERLINE AND LAYOUT
- Text height of 1'6"
- Then select the multi tex to provide the text whever ncessasry on this layout
- I mention for Coloun name as C1,C2 C3, Etc.,
- The coumn layout is ready

- Initially Copy the column plan form the ground floor plan then only retain the column portion of the plan
- The wall size is 9" A same for beam six 9"X12"
- Draw the beams wherever the walls are present
- Now copy the coloumn portion as shown in below

- Then Take Xline command to draw the footing portion by using column
- Now change the beam layer
- Take xline command to provide the beam line for wherever required

- Now top and bottom and line are offset to inside of beam size of 9"
- as same another beam are also obtained

- Now trim the extended line of outer beam and column line
- now beam line are market
- Then mark the center line by using Xline
- set current layerr as center line
- then marked whever required for center line are provided

- Now change the current layer to the center line layer
- Click on line type > other
- Load select CENTER
- Global scale factor >10
- Enter
- Now select the center line on plan to changed to CENTER line layer

- Now To creat Dimension and Text by using Annotation command
- Click Annotation tab
- Click the layer to dimension layer
- Click the dimesnion
- Click >Manage dimension style for as same Challenge-8 dimension style and properties are used

- Then select linear dimension
- Provide the linear diemsnion for wherever necessary
- Now to creat text by using Annotation commad
- Her select Annotation tab

- Take a rectangle command
- Specify the lower corner point @ anywhere

- To creat a Block for D
- Enter B in Command prompt
- Specify Name >FOOTING LAYOUT 4'X4'
- Select Pick point to pickup the Beam
- And select object
- press ok

- To Inser the Blocks
- Take insert command
- Select Current Drawing tab
- Slect FOOTING LAYOUT 4'X4'
- Select Scale> specify on screen
- Select Rotaion > specify on screen
- Enter
- Place the Footing as per requirement

- Now To creat Dimension and Text by using Annotation command

- Provide the linear diemsnion for wherever necessary
- Now to creat text by using Annotation commad
- Her select Annotation tab
- Click Mnagement text style
- Style name >CENTERLINE AND LAYOUT
- Text height of 1'6"
- Then select the multi tex to provide the text whever ncessasry on this layout
