Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT

1) Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using a 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements inline
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements

AIM:- Using shortcut keys in Revit to improve the efficiency of the drawing

Procedure:-

a. Using a 3D model create a section box

  • select component > type BX > section is created
  • select ladder,door,window,furniture

b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout

  • select windows and door> type CS> place the created object

c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views

  • simply type TL > line thickness is reduced

d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view

  • type VG(visibility graphics)> select floor> select override in table >select pattern and color> press ok

e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view

  • select level /floor> type VR > adjust parameter> press oo

f. To select the previously selected items

  • simply click ctrl+<

g. To add annotations to the model views

  • type DI > select point > press ok

h. To bring the model elements inline

  • type AL> select the first object and than the second object which align to first object

i. To rotate the model elements

  • select object > type RO> specify angle >press ok

j. To move an object to another location

  • select object >type MV > specify axis press ok
  • .

k. To copy a model element

  • select object > type CO> specify location > place

l. To mirror an element about an axis

  • select object> type MM/MR> specify axis > press ok

m. To create an array of model elements

  • select object > type AR> specify elements, spacing> press ok

2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood

AIM:- USING REVIT TO PREPARE A SCHEDULE FOR COMPONENTS

PROCEDURE:-

  • GO TO VIEW TOOLBAR > select schedule > select schedule/ quantites> specify categories> Give name> press ok
  • select fields which are required> press ok
  • WALLS
  • DOORS
  • WINDOWS
  • MATERIAL TAKE-OFF
  • GO TO VIEW TOOLBAR > select schedule > select MATERIAL TAKE-OFF > specify categories> Give name> press ok
  • select fields which are required> press oK
  • WALL MATERIAL TAKE-OFF
  • MATERIAL TAKE-OFF DOOR
  • MATERIAL TAKE-OFF WINDOW
  • MATERIAL TAKE-OFF COLUMN

3) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for the area and volume of each room.

AIM:- TO CALCULATE AREA AND VOLUME USING REVIT

PROCEDURE:-

  • GO TO VIEW TOOLBAR > select schedule > select ROOM> specify categories> Give name> press ok
  • select fields which are required> press oK

4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take-off

AIM:-

PROCEDURE:-

  • SELECT COMPOMEMNT > GOTO PROPERTY BROWSER> SELECT COST > SEPCIFY COST > PRESS OK
  • Floor TOTAL COST
  • WINDOWS TOTAL COST
  • TOTAL COST OF WALL MATERIAL

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo?
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

AIM:- TO CREATE THE FLOW CHART USING THE VISUAL PROGRAMMING METHOD.

PROCEDURE:-

A. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo

  • 1. IDENTIFY THE PARAMETER OF FORMWORK
  • 2. CALCULATION OF FORM-WORK
  • 3. PREPARED FOR FORM-WORK
  • 4. APPLY/ASSEMBLE FORK-WORK -> * PREPARING CONCRETE
  • 5. CONCRETE PLACING
  • 6. COMPACTING /REMOVE OF VOID IN CONCRETE
  • 7. GIVE TIME TO SET/HARD
  • 8. REMOVE FORMWORK ON STRUCTURE
  • 9. CURING STRUCTURE
  • 10. COMPLETE

B. If there is no water coming from the pipes

C. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

6) List the parameters associated with each model element
a. Wall
b. Floor
c. Door
d. Window
e. Table
f. Building

AIM:- TO SPECIFY THE PARAMETER OF THE MODEL ELEMENT

PROCEDURE:-

A. WALL

B. FLOOR

C. DOOR

D. WINDOWS

E. TABLE

F. BUILDING

  • BUILDING TYPE
  • BUILDING FLOOR PLAN
  • BUILDING LOCATION
  • BUILDING LEVELS
  • BUILDING SHEETS
  • BUILDING PERIMETER
  • BUILDING AREA
